The cold war between superstar Salman Khan and filmmaker Sanjay Leela Bhansali might hot up with the latter bagging the remake rights of a film on Sallu’s wishlish.
Buzz is that Bhansali has landed the Hindi remake rights of the south film Kanchana. If true, it might rile Salman Khan and Sohail Khan who had previously tried to acquire the remake rights, but failed to get them due to an exorbitant price quoted by the south makers.
Whether Bhansali shelled out the asked-for moolah is not yet known, but he is learned to have acquired the remake rights and is on the lookout for an actor to play the leading role.
For those who have been out of touch, Salman Khan and Sanjay Leela Bhansali, once close friends, had a falling out after Bhansali chose Hrithik Roshan over his favourite Salman for the 2010 film Guzaarish. Much to Sallu’s chagrin, Bhansali even roped in Aishwarya Rai in the lead opposite Hrithik. After the film’s release and box office failure, Salman Khan had mocked the movie and some sequences in it (the fly-on-the-nose one, for instance) and by doing so had upset not just Bhansali but even Hrithik Roshan.
Without taking names Hrithik had publicly expressed his displeasure over Salman’s comment. Bhansali, on the other hand, had taken a satirical dig about big stars with big egos. Since then, Bhansali and Salman Khan haven’t been on good terms.
And now with Bhansali stealing a march on Salman in acquiring the remake rights ofKanchana, the equation could be further strained.
