Curvier Huma Qureshi hits back: No, I don`t want to be a size zero hanger

Three-film-old Huma Qureshi, who has managed to garner equal adulation and flak for her curves in the size-zero-obsessed industry, prefers to be her pretty self rather than falling for the fad

Huma was loved for her voluptuous figure and earthy style in her first movie 'Gangs of Wasseypur'. But she was criticised by some quarters for her weight issues.

"In 'Gangs of Wasseypur' I was the pretty girl, it was glamorous role. In 'Ek Thi Daayan' I was the heroine. I have always been the pretty girl.

I think there are people who have a craze about size zero but today we do have heroines who are curvier, " Huma said in an interview.

"Either you think of it (weight) as a problem or as an added advantage. I would like to be known for my personality rather than size zero, I am an actress. I don't want to be a hanger, " she said.

Huma feels there are so many actresses today who are not size zero but still have a huge fan following. However, if in the near future a role demands for her to transform herself, she is game for it.

The 26- year-old is looking forward to the release of Nikhil Advani's 'D Day'. In the film, Huma had to perform some heavy duty stunts and it was not only challenging but difficult as well for her to pull it off.

"More than shooting difficult action sequences, trying to look like a RAW agent, keeping the character in mind, not forgetting the lines etc... There is so much synchronisation that happens when you do action scenes, " she said. "Besides action, there are cars blowing up, gunshots, blast happening in the background and you don't want to mess it up with (bad) performance... So all that is scary, " she added.

The actress has decided that until and unless a very good action film comes her way she will not do one. 'D Day' will see Arjun Rampal playing an ex-officer of an Indian Armed Forces unit, Irrfan Khan an undercover RAW official and Huma an explosive expert. While veteran actor Rishi Kapoor plays a negative role.

"Rishi Kapoor is my favourite co-star in the film he is fun to work with. He has great anecdotes, he is very inspiring. He is child-like... He is dedicated and passionate about his work, " she said.

"Irrfan is a great performer. As a co-star its difficult to know what he will do next as he is full of surprises. Having an actor like Irrfan in the film is like a blessing, he takes it (film) to another level. Arjun is the most good looking and fittest actor we have, " she added.
