New Delhi: Sanjay Dutt, who is currently serving his sentence in Pune’s Yerwada Jail, reportedly gets around Rs 4000 as a monthly allowance from his family. Coming from an influential family- with 32 staff members 24x7 at his service- the actor’s helpers broke down on hearing how their employer is living on such a little amount.
“Sanju is allowed to get a money order which is worth Rs 4,000. His wife Manyata’s trusted aide visits the post office once a month to send the money to the jail authorities. They in turn give coupons to Sanju who uses them to buy stamps, envelopes, soaps, toothbrush and other basic necessities. Not everybody knew about this fact. One day, Manyata was waiting for lunch to be served in their Bandra flat but the food was not served,” a source close to Sanjay revealed talking to DNA.
“She waited with the children for a long time and then went to the kitchen to see what was causing the delay. She saw that the staffers were huddled and whispering while some of them were in tears. When she asked them what was wrong they told her that they were shocked to know that Sanju gets such a little amount,” the source added.
Some of Dutt’s staff members couldn’t believe that their employer was getting a monthly amount lesser than them.
According to DNA, Dutt is known for his big heartedness, as last year after the success of ‘Agneepath’, he gave Rs 25,000 to each member of his staff.
Apart from this, the 53-year-old actor is also said to have often shown his generosity on many special occasions by giving Rs4000 to 5000 to his crew members. Dutt’s staff members, hence, got emotional on learning about his meagre allowance.
It was Dutt’s better half –Manyata, who had to step in and convince them that he was fine managing with the sum that had been granted to him, after which his staff resumed their work.
