MUMBAI: Deepika Padukone has had a dream run this year with both of her releases ‘Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani’, directed by Ayan Mukerji and ‘Chennai Express’ directed by Rohit Shetty creating records at the box office.

Also Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s ‘Ram Leela’ is ready to hit the theaters on 14 November 2013 and is carrying good reviews. Currently Deepika is in Goa with Arjun Kapoor for ‘Finding Fanny Fernandes’ in which Ranveer is reportedly playing a cameo.

Post pack-up, Deepika and Ranveer were spotted having a cozy dinner in a Greek restaurant called ‘Thalassa Greek Taverna’ in Vagator, North Goa.

While they seemed every bit a young couple out on a romantic date, they didn’t hold back on gossiping about Deepika’s ex-boyfriend Ranbir Kapoor, who last heard was in New York avoiding public after the gruesome failure of his movie ‘Besharam’.

It has been reported that this is precisely the matter they were discussing – Ranbir’s movie ‘Besharam’ and it’s box office failure.

This is not the first time that Deepika has taken digs at Ranbir. She took digs at Ranbir when she has appeared on Karan Johar’s talk show ‘Koffee with Karan’ along with Sonam Kapoor.

Well, all we tell Deepika is – get a life girl and move on because Ranbir may be open to working with you on screen but off screen he is committed to Katrina Kaif!

Govinda to play Ranbir Kapoor's father in Jagga Jasoos

Govinda is all set to play father on screen. The actor has reportedly given his nod to play the role of Ranbir Kapoor's dad in Jagga Jasoos.

Director Anurag Basu approached Govinda to do the film.

"The two had a long meeting last week. Anurag explained the character to Chi Chi (as Govinda is fondly called) in detail. Chi Chi loved the subject and has consented to do the project in principle," a leading daily quoted its source.

Buzz is that Ranbir Kapoor will be playing the role of a 17-year-old boy in the film.

Ranbir Kapoor and Anurag Basu's has started a joint production house Picture Shuru Productions. Jagga Jasoos, which is their maiden venture, will be co-produced by Disney.

A few days back, Govinda was approached to play an antagonist in Shaad Ali's next starring Ranveer Singh and Parineeti Chopra. Seems, he is starting he is all set to start his second innings

'Besharam' strategy fails at the box office

What should have been an ideal release strategy turned awry. Ranbir Kapoor's 'Besharam' that released midweek — on Wednesday October 2 — to cash in on a national holiday on account of Gandhi Jayanti, miscalculated its box office reach.

The film did fantastic numbers on the first day. Ranbir, who has a mammoth fan following, proved his mettle — both as an actor and a superstar — by delivering the 19.40 cr initial. But, poor content and indifferent music got the numbers down by 40% the very next day. And from then, the film slid until Sunday, barely managing to cash in on the five-day weekend that it had at its disposal.

Made on a budget of close to 100 cr, with prints and advertising thrown in, the film will collect a fair sum from the satellite rights. But there reportedly is a rider in the contract, that the satellite price will depend on the box office run.

And, since the box office in India and overseas has been a let-down, the variables will change. Case in point is that Besharam collected 14.30 cr (GBOC) from abroad in five days — from nearly 700-odd screens — while 'Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani', Ranbir's earlier release, had collected around 22 cr (GBOC) in the first three days of its overseas release, from a lesser number of screens. Taking the trend into account, 'Besharam's chances of a recovery seem bleak.

Besharam: Business goes down, earns Rs 40.31 cr in four days

New Delhi: Ranbir Kapoor starrer 'Besharam' has failed to capitalise on the hype that surrounded it before the release. The film's business has failed to live up to the expectations. Trade analysts Taran Adarsh tweets, "#Besharam *actuals* Wed ₹ 21.56 cr, Thu ₹ 7.13 cr, Fri ₹ 5.68 cr, Sat ₹ 5.94 cr. Total: ₹ 40.31 cr nett. EPIC DISAPPOINTMENT!" Adarsh further tweets, "Thu + Fri + Sat *combined total* is less than what it collected on Wed [₹ 21.56 cr]. Shocking!" Directed by Abhinav Singh Kashyap, the film also stars Rishi Kapoor, Neetu Singh and Pallavi Sharda in important roles.

It's a big disappointment for the makers of 'Besharam' because it was seen as a sure shot hit at the box-office prior to its release. However, the film still has some days to regain the lost momentum.

Here’s some insider dope about Ranbir Kapoor’s new found hesitation around promoting Besharam. As has been doing the rounds amongst media folk, Ranbir didn’t follow up on the film’s promotions in Mumbai and Delhi- the centers of media houses, and chose to meet the press in smaller cities like Jalandhar and Chandigarh instead. From Besharam’s marketing crew, this behavior draws a deep sigh of frustration.

Dig deeper and they tell you that each time they spoke to Ranbir to take part in a mass appeal driven media event in Mumbai and Delhi, he would agree at first. But then, each evening, after a long phone call to his lady love Katrina Kaif, Ranbir would back out from these events.

Katrina provoked him each time over to stay away from the intrusive TV channels and paparazzi this time around. So much so, Ranbir dropped out of an event organized by the film’s producers’- Reliance Entertainment- at the last minute in Mumbai yesterday, leaving organizers high and dry.

Both the film’s marketing team, and people familiar with the Kapoor kid say that it’s most unusual for him to behave like this! And then, their sighs speak volumes about what they think of Katrina’s ‘guidance’ for her boyfriend!

Ranbir Kapoor leaves SRK's record behind!

Ranbir Kapoor has never before taken his career so seriously and has blatantly disclosed his plans to become the "number one" in Bollywood during a recent interview with a leading daily. 

Ranbir reportedly posed a direct threat to none other than the king of Bollywood, Shah Rukh Khan. SRK on the other hand has left no stone unturned to ensure that his latest release, Chennai Express, had the biggest ever release for a Bollywood film with 3500 screens in India and 700 plus screens abroad.

But now Ranbir has finally overturned SRK's numbers with his latest flick 'Besharam', which will be be releasing in atleast 3600 screens in India, making it the biggest release in Hindi film history till date.  The race to capture the most number of screens has become a preferred device of Bollywood these days as the number of theatres has a direct impact on the first day collection of the film.

Utpal Acharya, Distribution Head of Reliance Entertainment, gave a thumbs up to the news and told a leading daily, "Yes, 'Besharam' will be the largest release till date, both in India and abroad. I am looking at 3600 plus screens. I had planned for 4000 screens but Pawan Kalyan's Telugu film 'Attarintiki Daredi' which releases today has a got a phenomenal response in advance booking. That takes away some screens which I had planned in Andhra Pradesh, Tamil Nadu, Karnataka and Kerala." 

Acharya added, "I am very confident of 'Besharam', it is a full family commercial entertainer and more the screens, more the revenue."

Trade analyst Taran Adarsh commented, "A wide release can go well with a big film like 'Besharam'. Post 'Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani', Ranbir has become a big craze. Plus, you have the Dabangg director Abhinav Kashyap holding the reins."Acharya offers another justification of the numbers game saying, "When the film releases at a large number of theatres, the audience can pick and choose where they want to see it, an expensive one or a cheaper option. So, more the screens, lesser the piracy."

A leading distributor (on request of anonymity) also told the daily, "You need to have a film like 'Chennai Express' or 'Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani', which sustains fabulously, to get the numbers. Else it just amounts to higher collections on only day one and this is simply because the film is more in your face. If 'Besharam' is accepted well, yes, then it would definitely make sense to release in so many screens. And yes, even 100-150 more screens can make a difference."

Vidya Balan to play detective in Bobby Jasoos

After Ranbir and Sushant turning sleuth for their respective films, Vidya Balan who is known for her strong roles is planning to join the league. The actress will be seen playing the role of a detective in a film titled Bobby Jasoos.

Reviving her friendship with actress turned producer Dia Mirza and Sahil Sangha, the film will be produced under their banner Born Free Entertainment. The script is written by Sanyukta Chawla and is to be directed by Samar Shaikh.

The film will go on floor in mid-November and is set for a summer 2014 release.

Ranbir Kapoor to propose Katrina Kaif on his birthday?

Bollywood's most eligible bachelor Ranbir Kapoor will soon be taken. According to a report published in Mid-Day.com, Ranbir Kapoor is planning to propose his rumoured girlfriend Katrina Kaif on his birthday September 28.

The report further suggests that Ranbir Kapoor is keen on marrying Katrina and might soon come out in public about their relationship, which has kept everyone guessing.

Reports say that the actor is planning to propose Katrina in a fairytale style, by getting down on to his knees.

The duo were spotted getting cosy in Spain with pictures of bikini clad Katrina splashing all over the media.

Katrina, who has wrapped up Dhoom 3, is also making efforts to stay more close to her beau.

According to reports, before leaving for her sister's wedding she stopped at Sri Lanka to meet Ranbir, who is shooting for Bombay Velvet there.

Ranbir had recently gifted an expensive pair of earrings from a high end jewellery shop to Katrina on her birthday.

There were reports that Ranbir's parents Rishi and Neetu weren't happy with their son's choice of girl.

But, Katrina's spokesperson denied the buzz saying Ranbir will be busy promoting Besharam and travelling during his birthday.

While the makers of Ranbir Kapoor's next film are hoping the audience queues up at their computers to catch the new promo, looks like it's Sunny Leone who's become a surprise beneficiary.

But this Bond is less physical and more mentally intense. Roy is a thriller, produced by T-Series, and the film depicts Kapoor in a distressed mood as his character is involved in solving a mystery with the help of cops. Arjun Rampal and Jacqueline Fernandez play Kabir and Ayesha. They are filmmakers and the background of the first look also shows a page of a script. Jacqueline apparently has a double role in the movie. Also, Ranbir Kapoor will fly solo in the movie as he is not going to romance any actress. Ranbir Kapoor spends Rs 8 million for high-end bar

Bollywood's newest superstar on the block Ranbir Kapoor is no more a mamma's boy and if reports are to be believed the Kapoor lad is now asking for freedom in his own house.

According to a report published in Mid-Day.com, Ranbir Kapoor is spending on high end interiors and a plush bar in his bungalow, 'Krishna Raj', which is currently under renovation.

The report further suggests that the Barfi actor has hired an international interior decorator for the work and has spent a whopping Rs 8 million on his bar alone.

According to reports, the actor, who is currently in Sri Lanka shooting for Anurag Kashyap's Bombay Velvet, has also made way for separate entrance to his part of the house, which he shares with his parents Rishi Kapoor and Neetu Singh.

The actor, who was recently spotted on a holiday with his rumoured girlfriend Katrina Kaif, intends to enjoy the company of his friends without disturbing his parents.

Rishi Kapoor`s cop role in `Besharam` was Ranbir`s idea

Mumbai: Veteran actor Rishi Kapoor got to play a police officer in upcoming film `Besharam` after his son Ranbir Kapoor suggested his name to director Abhinav Kashyap.
When Abhinav said that they had to cast a senior actor to play a police officer, it was Ranbir who suggested his father`s name.

"I am excited to have all three of them in my film. I didn`t know that Rishiji had never played a policeman in his entire career. I was so excited to have Rishiji and Neetuji play police personnel for the first time," Abhinav said in a statement here.
The film stars Rishi Kapoor as Inspector Chulbul, a name that became popular after Salman Khan etched it in `Dabangg`.

It is for the first time that the Kapoor family - Ranbir and his parents Rishi and Neetu - have come together for film `Besharam`.

Releasing on October 2, the film introduces newbie Pallavi Sharda.

Today is the birthday of the Munnabhai of Bollywood, Sanjay Dutt who is presently serving his jail term in Yerwada jail in connection to the 1993 bomb blast case. Sanjay is a prominent name in the Hindi film industry because of his films like Saajan, Khalnayak, Vaastav: The Reality, Mission Kashmir, Kaante, Munna Bhai M.B.B.S., Parineeta and many more. A source revealed, "Several Bollywood folk want to wish him on his birthday. They want him to know that he is remembered and missed. The source said more, "It is highly unlikely that his family members can meet him on the day. As visits are restricted to once a month, their next meet is due in August."
