Looks like Sushant Singh Rajput's loss is Aditya Roy Kapur's gain!
Aditya Roy Kapur has been finalised opposite Katrina Kaif in Abhishek Kapoor's next venture "Fitoor" and the love story is likely to go on the floors in the first half of 2014.
"As a filmmaker, I have always invested in new and emerging talent and with his talent and personna, Aditya is right up there," said Kapoor.
"Abhishek Kapoor was looking for a perfect cast for his timeless love story 'Fitoor' and we're glad that he has found them in Aditya and Katrina," Rucha Pathak, senior creative director - studios, Disney UTV, said in a statement.
Earlier, Sushant, who made his debut with Abhishek's Kai Po Che, was supposed to do the role but he left the film due to date problems.
"Sushant wanted to do Shekar Kapur's 'Paani' as well as Abhishek's 'Fitoor'. Sushant requested Abhishek to postpone the date of his film 'Fitoor' but that didn't happen.
The film is a screen adaptation of Charles Dickensâ novel "Great Expectations" and will see Aditya playing 'Pip', who is the narrator as well as protagonist in the novel. Katrina will be seen as rich girl Estella.
The pivotal role of 'Miss Havisham', Estella's mother, is currently being cast and an announcement is expected in the coming weeks
