3D Sholay To Release On Big B's Birthday

Now If ever you have told somebody that you haven't watched Sholay yet, we are sure that you would have got a 'surprise' reaction from them! Well, don't worry! You will be glad to know that this biggest Indian blockbuster will soon be back in theatres. There has been a buzz about the 3D version of the 1975 hit movie for some time now. The latest news is that this 3D version of Sholay will release in theatres on Amitabh Bachchan's birthday (October 11) this year. Earlier, there were rumours that this release would be on India's Independence day (August 15). However, sources now say that the film will release in October. "The date was specifically chosen as it coincides with Bachchan's big day. He is the biggest star we have today and what better day to release the film," a source said. Sholay is considered as one of the best classic cinemas in the Indian film industry. The film stars Dharmendra and Amitabh Bachchan in lead roles. Producer Jayantilal Gada is getting all set to re-release this movie. Sholay is one movie that will remain in the minds of moviegoers forever. Bow this will be an opportunity for the young and old to enjoy this classic film in 3D. This film brings back many memories from the past. The friendship and on screen chemistry is all ready to impress everyone once again. Recently, Dharmendra watched the movie while it was being made into 3D and became nostalgic. This nostalgia may pop up for many others too when the movie hit the theatres.

The 3D version of 1975 super-hit Sholay is all set to hit the theatres. 

A source revealed that 150 technicians had painstakingly worked for over a year for the new avatar and there were plans to hold screening for the veterans Amitabh Bachchan and Dharmendra. With Sholay being a classic, the 3D factor adds to the excitement.

While YAMLA PAGLA DEEWANA was a major hit a couple of years back, stakes have gone further higher with the film's sequel which is all set to be released soon. If promos have done the trick and Deols seem to be on fire, presence of Neha Sharma and Kristina Akheeva has further heated up the affairs. No wonder, the makers are confident about the prospects of this comedy which is expected to take outrageous proportions.


'We were very sure from the beginning that whatever was strong in YAMLA PAGLA DEEWANA had to remain in the sequel as well. However we also had in mind to expand the base of the franchise and find newer audience for it. The first step in that direction was to make it more modern,' says Sangeeth Sivan who is himself returning to direction three years after horror flick CLICK.

He isn't new to making a comic affair though. The two hits that he has delivered, KYAA KOOL HAI HUM and APNA SAPNA MONEY MONEY , have both been comedies.

'Other than the comic elements, we have also ensured that the songs are keeping in mind the ambience and milieu that the characters find themselves in. They are much grander than before. Also, women are much hotter too. Neha and Kristina have added on to the glamour quotient in a big way,' he adds.

The makers wanted to keep their eye on bringing younger audience as well.

'This is the reason why we have added elements like a monkey and a sumo as well. These have been incorporated in the subject as well so that children come in too,' he details, 'We have a good family entertainer in the offering and hopefully we would get a wider audience base with the sequel.'
