Born on August 5, 1974 Kajol is a successful Bollywood star. She is the daughter of yesteryear actor Tanuja and film director Shomu Mukherjee. Known for her incredible silverscreen success and commendable acting, Kajol created a niche for herself in the industry.
At 16, when she was studying at the St Joseph’s Convent school in Panchgani, Kajol got her first Bollywood break. Director Rahul Rawail of Arjun fame cast Kajol in Bekhudi. Subsequently, Kajol bagged her second lead role opposite Shahrukh Khan in Baazigar. The film was a major success and Kajol became a known name. Though not striking enough in the conventional manner, the actor’s vivaciousness, her energetic persona and effortless acting skills made her an instant success.
After Baazigar, this light-eyed actor went on to work with Shahrukh Khan in movies such asKaran Arjun, Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge, Kuch Kuch Hota Hain, Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham andMy Name Is Khan. Her pairing with SRK became one of the most appreciated jodis of the silver screen.
She has worked in more than 35 Hindi films and has bagged six Filmfare awards, the highest by any female actor ever in the industry. In 2011, the Government of India honoured Kajol with the Padma Shri, the fourth highest civilian honour in the country, for her contribution to Indian cinema.
Kajol married actor Ajay Devgn in 1997 and is blessed with a ten-year-old daughter Nysa and three-year-old son Yug. Kajol describes motherhood as a fabulous experience and also believes that it brings out the best in her. It’s been quite some time since this talented star was seen on the silverscreen last though she has been making her spirited presence felt through some really noteworthy commercials on the small screen. Much like her ardent fans and cinegoers, we too at BollywoodLife have been missing Kajol’s liveliness and wish to see her soon on the silverscreen.
We wish Kajol on a very special day of her life. You too can send in your wishes!
