Fashion is important for all : Alia Bhatt

Written By Unknown on Sunday, 6 October 2013 | 00:00

Actress Alia Bhatt doesn't feel like a star despite being in news for her line up of films and brand endorsements. Post her debut film 'Student Of The Year', Alia will next be seen in Imtiaz Ali's 'Highway', Karan Johar's '2 States' and a film with Varun Dhawan.

"I don't have much acting experience. I am not a star. I am learning... there is a long way to go. As of now I am dependent on my directors," she told PTI.
Alia was nervous before shooting for 'Highway', an intense road movie, as 'Student Of The Year' was a light hearted film. She says her 'Highway' co-star Randeep Hooda helped her.

"He is a great actor and helped me a lot, he made me feel comfortable. Though he is senior, he is as young as I am. It is just a perception that he is older. Rather, there were times when I was acting older and saying don't do this or that," she said.

Alia, who would be seen opposite Arjun Kapoor in '2 States', finds him extremely supportive. "He is a great actor, I loved him in 'Ishaqzaade'. He is an amazing person. He helped me in preparing for the role," the actress said who plays a South Indian girl in the film.

The actress, who is also the ambassador of cosmetic brand Maybelline, feels it's good to be trendy. "Fashion is important for all... It is the way of depicting yourself. People should groom themselves," she said.

First look: Ranbir Kapoor in and as ‘Roy’, co-starring Arjun Rampal and Jacqueline Fernandez

The first look of the film Roy, starring Ranbir Kapoor, is out, and if the fans expect it to be as colourful and vibrant like his films Besharam or Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani, then let us show you it’s not.

The Kapoor lad is on a roll following the success of Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani and while he is busy working on Bombay Velvet in Sri Lanka, the makers of Roy have released the first look of the film that shows him in a sombre mood. Unlike Ranbir’s previous movies, this one looks dark and grim.

It’s learnt that Ranbir Kapoor plays a brooding thief in Roy, directed by the newcomer Vikram Singh, and it is something along the lines of James Bond. But this Bond is less physical and more mentally intense.

Roy is a thriller, produced by T-Series, and the film depicts Kapoor in a distressed mood as his character is involved in solving a mystery with the help of cops. Arjun Rampal and Jacqueline Fernandez play Kabir and Ayesha. They are filmmakers and the background of the first look also shows a page of a script. Jacqueline apparently has a double role in the movie.

Also, Ranbir Kapoor will fly solo in the movie as he is not going to romance any actress. Though Jacqueline Fernandez is a part of the film, she is paired opposite Arjun Rampal.

Are you excited for the film after seeing the first look? Isn't it intriguing?

The party was at my uncles place and there were many people invited... Alia is my co-star in Two States so we have become friends and end up attending parties and events together the way friends do... Arjun Kapoor

Arjun Kapoor and Alia Bhatt are dating each other. The two met on the sets of their film Two States.

They have been together for few months now. There have been whispers in the industry about the Kapoor boy and the Bhatt girl, but it is only after Sanjay Kapoor’s house party last week that their little secret came out of the bag.

Alia and Arjun were very cosy at the party and kept disappearing into a corner every now and then on the pretext of talking on the phone. This did not go unnoticed by the guests, especially by the industry wife with whom Arjun has been linked for the past few years. She looked visibly upset at this bonding.

The duo seem to be quite open about their fondness for each other. Their first outing was the screening of Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani, but everyone assumed it was just two co-stars/friends hanging out together. Last week, Arjun who was shooting for the climax of Gunday, came to drop Alia for a special screening of D-Day. After which he went for his shoot.

Alia was Arjun’s only co-star to be present at Sanjay’s bash. They arrived together but when it was time to leave, he dropped her to her car and went back upstairs. Says a source present, “The Kapoor family is aware of this budding relationship, which is why Alia was present at the party. She came as Arjun’s plus-one. None of Arjun’s other co-stars like Priyanka, Parineeti and Anushka were present. It was strictly a family and close friends affair, so Alia’s inclusion is the writing on the wall. Even the Bhatts are aware of this love story and they approve.”

However, Arjun maintains the ‘close friends’ status, “Alia is my co-star in Two States so we have become friends and end up attending parties and events together the way friends do.”

Priyanka Chopra shooting for 'Gunday' cabaret number

Written By Unknown on Monday, 8 July 2013 | 08:31

Bollywood actor Priyanka Chopra is playing the female lead in period drama "Gunday" and she is currently shooting for a cabaret dance sequence for the action-drama-cum-romance. The film's director Ali Abbas Zafar says he is using an original song.

Set between 1971 to 1988 in Kolkata, the film deals with black marketing mafia men Bikram (Ranveer Singh) and Bala (Arjun Kapoor).

"We started shooting for the particular cabaret song three days ago in Mumbai and there is three more days to do. It's a fresh cabaret song and not a remix of any old song. It's a very big sort of cabaret song in the film," said Zafar, who earlier wielded megaphone for "Mere Brother Ki Dulhan".

Did you ask Priyanka to take reference from any legendary Bollywood actress for the song?

"Not really. Actually, I have been doing my research for quite some time on Kolkata and I discovered Kolkata was high on glamour quotient since 1960s, 1970s, and 1980s. In that way, Kolkata is quite western," said Zafar.

The director has created a coal mine and informed that the last 30 days of shoot is left.

"We have created a coal mine set and we are left to do a huge action sequence between Irrfan, Arjun Kapoor and Ranveer Singh. Obviously, we can't shoot in real coal mine so we had to create the set for the period film," said Zafar.

GUNDAY team pays tribute to Yash Chopra!

Written By Unknown on Thursday, 4 July 2013 | 05:21

There is a huge coal mine set being recreated for the next schedule of YRF's GUNDAY - the first of its kind. The last YRF film shot in a coal mine was Yash Chopra's KAALA PATTHAR in 1979 which had a Hollywood team specially flown in to be on board to supervise the technicality of shooting this on location.

For GUNDAY, what proved invaluable were the discussions between late Mr Yash Chopra and the director of the film Ali Abbas Zafar before the start of the film in August 2012. Yash ji shared all his experiences of shooting the coal mine sequences of KALA PATTHAR with Ali, which later became the guideline for the set construction for GUNDAY. In a way, it's a small ode, which the GUNDAY team would like to pay Yash Chopra in their own special cinematic way.

On their part, the creative team of GUNDAY, namely production designer Rajat Poddar, Director Ali Abbas Zafar and director of Photography Aseem Mishra went through an extensive period of research to make it possible. Recces were conducted through the many coal fields of India, from Singhrauli mines in UP & MP to Raniganj belt in West Bengal to get the details right for this set.

The set will see the high-octane action pair of Ranveer Singh and Arjun Kapoor along with Irrfan Khanand leading lady Priyanka Chopra. The action begins this July at YRF Studios.
