60th South Indian Filmfare Awards!

The 60th Annual South Indian Filmfare awards were held this Saturday in Hyderabad. The south indian industry, famous for its festive and over the top picturization, is slowly but steadily growing in popularity. We have had many of the South Indian filmstars come to try their luck at Bollywood. Here is a look at some of them in the function.

Shruti Hasan looked smoking hot in her gown and caught the attention of each and every photographer present. The daughter of Superstar Kamal Hasan, Shruti recently had two of her bollywood films released last friday.


   

Dhanush, who recently was praised for his bollywood debut in the movie Raanjhanaa, won the best actor award for his role in the movie 3. He was accompanied by his wife, who is also the director of the film.

Tamannah, who recently made her debut in the box office disaster, Himmatwala, alongside Ajay Devgn. Here though, she remains a superhit actress. She looked gorgeous as always on the occasion.

 

 Priyamani, whom we recenly saw with Shah Rukh Khan in the video of 1234, the dance track from Rohit Shetty's Chennai Express. She won the best actress award for her role in the movie Charulatha.

When Anushka Sharma tore her Roberto Cavalli dress for Madhuri Dixit!!

Anushka Sharma may be a star in her own right, but she is a self-avowed fan ofMadhuri Dixit, so much so that Anushka ended up tearing her expensive dress in a mad dash to watch Madhuri perform live at IIFA. It’s an interesting tidbit from the recently held IIFA Awards in Macau. It happened that Anushka stepped on the stage to receive the best supporting actress award (for her role in Jab Tak Hai Jaan) after which she went backstage and later got busy giving sound bytes to the media persons. It’s then that Anushka Sharma came to know that Madhuri Dixit’s act was about to start. Since it was Madhuri’s first ever dance performance at IIFA, Anushka didn’t want to miss it for anything. So leaving everything aside, she made a dash for the auditorium to watch Madhuri’s performance. However, in her excitement, she ended up tearing her expensive Roberto Cavalli dress. Did she regret it? We doubt, for Madhuri Dixit’s performance at IIFA was so stellar that everyone in the crowd got up and gave her a standing ovation. That one moment of unbridled adulation and euphoria could be worth a Cavalli number. Right, Anushka?

Ayushmann Khurrana develops six-pack abs for YRF movie!

 Actor Ayushmann Khurrana reveals he has developed a six-pack for his new film under the Yash Raj Films (YRF) banner. He plays a squash player in the movie.

The 'Vicky Donor' star has flaunted the perfect abs on the cover of Men's Health magazine's latest issue.

"This (the abs) is of course, for my next film Yash Raj Films project with Sonam Kapoor. I have some body shots in the film. I play a squash player, so that was the need of the character," the 28-year-old said here at the launch of the magazine cover.

The six-pack mania became popular in Bollywood courtesy actors like Salman Khan, Shah Rukh Khan, Aamir Khan and Ranveer Singh.

Ayushmann believes everyone builds abs for one reason or the other.

"I think nobody builds or tries to build abs without any reason. It's quite difficult, it's not easy. It is for a particular character," he said.

Ayushmann believes being fit definitely contributes to a person's confidence, irrespective of the profession he is in.

"I was very skinny as a kid and I was not as confident as I am right now. I was just another kid in the class and it was an all boys school, so I never used to crave for attention."

"...It's not just about being in the industry. Anybody, be it a journalist or a cameraperson, if that person is fit, naturally that person will be confident," he added.

Ayushmann's debut film 'Vicky Donor' recently fetched him the best debut award at the recently held International Indian Film Academy Awards (IIFA).

He is currently shooting for the new YRF project, while the shoot of 'Hamara Bajaj' is delayed and it is expected to start only next year.

IIFA 2013: 'Barfi' bags best film, Ranbir best actor, Vidya best actress

Macau: 'Barfi' scooped top honours at the International Indian Film Academy (IIFA) awards, at a ceremony in the Chinese gambling haven of Macau on Saturday that also celebrated a century of Bollywood.

'Barfi', a romantic comedy about a mute and deaf man and his relationship with two women. The movie was praised by critics for its positive portrayal of physically disabled people, a somewhat unusual theme for Bollywood screenplays.

India, the world's biggest film producer, makes more than double the number of Hollywood movies on an annual basis. Already popular in countries with sizable Indian populations, Indian films are also a growing hit with Chinese audiences as well as in Russia and Germany.

Hosted by Bollywood heartthrobs Shah Rukh Khan and Shahid Kapoor, the four-hour ceremony of pulsating dance routines and colourful costume changes was attended by an audience of over seven thousand screaming fans.

Some of Indian cinema's biggest names including Deepika Padukone set the Macau arena alight with high octane performances, while actors like Boman Irani and modern pin ups such as Vidya Balan graced the green carpet.

"We make musicals. I think every film is a musical. Every film has at least six to seven songs," said Ayushmann Khurrana, nominated for best actor after his debut in 'Vicky Donor', a romantic comedy about sperm donation. "So that is how Bollywood is completely different from Hollywood."

Best actress was won by Vidya Balan for 'Kahani' while, Ranbir Kapoor for 'Barfi' took home the award for best actor. 'Barfi' also won the award for best film.

India's film entertainment sector is booming and estimated to generate revenue of close to $5 billion by 2015.

The choice of Macau to host the annual event comes as the gambling hub is pushing to diversify its customer base beyond the traditional casino punter who spends only on the baccarat tables rather than on entertainment, dining and hospitality.

Indian customers are increasingly targeted by the casino operators due to their tendency to stay longer than the average Chinese punter and their heavy spending on non-gaming pastimes.

Missing Ranbir today, says Deepika Padukone after winning IIFA award

Macau: Bollywood actress Deepika Padukone, who won the Star Plus audience jodi of the year award for 'Yeh Jawaani hai Deewani' at the 14th IIFA awards here, said that she missed her co-star Ranbir Kapoor who was not present at the awards.

"I miss Ranbir today. Thank you so much, Ayan, for making me look so wonderful in the film. I miss you and I love you," she said on receiving the awards.

'Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani' has been directed by Ayan Mukerji and stars Deepika, Ranbir, Kalki Koechlin and Aditya Roy Kapur. The film clicked at the box office.

Madhuri Dixit's performance receives standing ovation at IIFA

Macau: Bollywood actress Madhuri Dixit received a standing ovation from the audience for her stunning dance performance at the 14th International Indian Film Academy (IIFA) Awards here.

The actress started her performance by greeting Macao after which she performed on her signature numbers like 'Dola re dola', 'Mera Piya Ghar Aaya' and 'Ek do teen' among others.

Madhuri then danced on more recent numbers and ended by on her item number 'Ghaghra' from 'Yeh Jawaani hai Deewani'.

The awards also saw a magnitude of other stunning performances, like the dance off between choreographer-director Prabhu Deva and actress Sridevi. The two were also joined by Shahid kapoor towards the end of the performance.

The other performances included dances by Sushant Singh Rajput, Deepika Padukone, Shah Rukh Khan, Ayushmann Khurrana and Parineeti Chopra among others.
