Mary Kom Biopic is the most Challenging film for me : Priyanka Chopra

Bollywood actress Priyanka Chopra, who plays boxer Mary Kom in an upcoming biopic on the Olympic medallist, says that what makes the film harder for her is that she never played sports in her life.

"To learn a new sport and to get her body language, I don't know how I am doing this. I have never played sports in my life. This is my most challenging film," said Priyanka.

Priyanka has been working hard to make herself perfect for the role. She even visited Imphal to meet Kom and the place where the boxing champ practises. 

The actress believes that this film will be different."Most of the biopics are of people who are either no more or seniors. But Mary is 32 years old and an international icon. It's a very difficult film. I want to show her personality in the film," she said. 

Priyanka's forthcoming films also include "Zanjeer", a remake of megastar Amitabh Bachchan's 1973 film of the same name. This is the third remake of a Big B-starrer that Priyanka features in. 

"Mr. Bachchan is my favorite actor. I am glad I have been a part of his remake films. I think it’s a co- incidence," she said. Earlier, she was seen in the remake of Amitabh's "Don" and "Agneepath".

Akshay Kumar the new Dara Singh?

After Farhan Akhtar as Milkha Singh and Priyanka Chopra as Mary Kom, it could be Akshay Kumar as Dara Singh. Director Rohit Jugraj has approached Dara Singh’s son Vindoo with a project with Akshay Kumar playing the lead. Apparently Akshay is keen to portray Dara Singh, but needs time to work on his physique.

Says Vindoo, “Yes, Rohit Jugraj has approached me to make a film on my father’s life. Akshay is the one chosen to play my father in this project. However, he would need time to bulk up. Also, all these things (cricket betting scam) happened and I didn’t want to embarrass Akshay by connecting with him at that time.” Interestingly, there is another Dara Singh bio-pic in the pipeline, this one in Punjabi. Says Vindoo, “Yes, I’ve been approached by the producers of Jatt & Juliet with a Punjabi film where they want Sangram Singh to play my dad. Let’s see which one materialises first.”

First Look: Priyanka visits Mary Kom in Imphal for her biopic!

Priyanka Chopra, who is training for the Mary Kom biopic, was in Imphal to do research on her role as the boxing Olympic medallist. 

Despite having a hectic schedule, Priyanka took time out and visited Kom and the place where the boxing champ practises. 

As part of her preparations for the film, PC visited Kom's home and interacted with the Olympic medallist's family members as well as travelled to places in Imphal where Kom grew up.

`This was solely for a research for the film on Mary Kom, ` the 30-year-old said in a statement. `Omung Kumar (director of the film) and the team were given a warm welcome. It was wonderful as people of Manipur are known to be courteous, ` she added. 

She hopes to visit the Manipur capital again. The film is being produced by Sanjay Leela Bhansali.

Birthday time: Priyanka turns 31 tomorrow (July 18). The star's birthday will be low-key due to her recent bereavement.
