Amitabh Bachchan and Sridevi to share screen space?

Written By Unknown on Tuesday, 22 October 2013 | 10:50

Khuda Gawah sequel

Going by the garma garam khabar it seems the two superstars may come together for the sequel of one of their biggest blockbuster films. Wondering which one? Read on to find out….

Amitabh Bachchan and Sridevi were last seen together in Gauri Shinde’s English Vinglish. Though Big B was seen in a cameo, it was refreshing to see him and Sri onscreen after a long hiatus, hai na? And now we hear the two versatile actors may work together for the sequel of their 1992 hit Khuda Gawah which was directed by Mukul S Anand and produced by Manoj Desai.
While the script is still being written and everything is in the initial stages, producer Manoj Desai has already spoken to Big B about the sequel. In a recent interview Desai said, “It (film) was one of the most loved films and we thought of bringing it back. We have given a one liner brief idea to Mr Bachchan. We have got a positive feedback from him. Once the script is complete we will meet him again and approach him for this film,”
The Khuda Gawah producer will also approach his original heroine for the sequel. “Once Mr Bachchan gives his nod for the sequel we may go and talk to Sridevi as well about the film. There will be other actors also in the film from the younger generation,” added Manoj Desai.
In fact, if things fall into place, the film might go on floors next year. Well, we are certainly keeping our fingers crossed for this one.

Why Salman, SRK Skipped Sridevi's Birthday Bash

Written By Unknown on Monday, 19 August 2013 | 00:27

While most of Sridevi's leading men from Vinod Khanna to Anil Kapoor showed up at the celebratory party thrown at the lounge Alibi in Colaba (Mumbai) by politician Amar Singh and Sridevi's husband Boney Kapoor; actors Salman Khan and Shah Rukh Khan who were supposed to 'most certainly' be there did a no-show.

And the reason was not their mutual hostility (yes, the Iftar hug notwithstanding, they still don't talk). Their reason for not turning up for Sridevi's golden hour was quite different.

According to a very reliable source, "Salman and Shah Rukh were both aware of each other's invitation at the party. They didn't mind coming face to face. They didn't show up for entirely different reasons. Salman was all dressed and ready to leave for the party when he heard that the party had been organized by his one-time friend Bunty Walia. He immediately changed his mind."

For those who came in late, Salman and Bunty used to be the thickest of friends. But then they had a massive fall-out. As everyone knows Salman's former friends are never forgiven. Any sign of the 'B' (for Bunty) word and Salman baulks.

Shah Rukh was apparently all dressed and ready to arrive at the venue at 12 midnight. For reasons best known to him, he changed his mind.

These Khan superstars' no-show apart, Sridevi's party was a grand success. All her actress colleagues like Hema Malini, Juhi Chawla, Sushmita Sen, Shilpa Shetty and her co-stars Randhir Kapoor, Rishi Kapoor to Vinod Khanna to Anil Kapoor (with wife Sunita) had turned up. Tennis champ Mahesh Bhupati with wife Lara Dutta rubbed shoulders with media baron Subhash Chandra. The political brigade was represented by such heavyweights as Praful Patel and Salman Khurshid.

It was gratifying for the guests to see Boney Kapoor's daughter Anshula from his first marriage present at the party.

Sridevi Turns 50 !!

Written By Unknown on Tuesday, 13 August 2013 | 00:55

Last year was quite eventful for Sridevi, who returned to the big screen with a hit film, English Vinglish. Now, husband Boney Kapoor is clubbing this success with the celebrations for her birthday (today; August 13) and throwing a grand party on August 17.

"It’s a celebration of a good year. Many others have thrown parties for her; it’s my turn now,” says Boney.

Meanwhile, Sridevi plans to spend her birthday with family — her sisters and brothers-in-law who are visiting her from Chennai.

What are your plans for your birthday?
I hate celebrating birthdays. Boneyji is throwing a party, but that’s for reasons other than my birthday. Earlier, when I would go for shoots with my mother, I’d ask her not to tell others that it was my birthday. I don’t like cutting cakes; I just love to spend time with my family and friends.

Any special birthday memory?
My parents would make my birthday special, not with an elaborate celebration but by making a card for me and with other simple things. Now my daughters make cards. They stay up till midnight, though they have to wake up early for school. They decorate the house with balloons, which is cute and touching.

What has been the best gift you have received on your birthday?
All the cards from my kids. As for Boneyji, I don’t give him a chance to buy me gifts. I buy them myself and tell him, ‘This is your birthday gift to me’ (laughs).

Who is the first one to wish you every year?
My daughters and my husband.

What will keep you busy this year?
There are a few film offers; I think we will finalise something soon.

The pup is in quarantine
It was reported recently that Sridevi had to leave a pup she bought for her daughter back in the US as the family didn’t have proper papers and hadn’t got permission to get the dog to India.

The actor says, "My daughter liked a pup and we bought it there. We were aware of all the rules and regulations; Boneyji has already applied for permission to get the pup to India. As per the requirements, the pup is in quarantine in the US. We will get him here only after we get all the permissions."

Top Five Southern Beauties In Bollywood

Written By Unknown on Monday, 22 July 2013 | 01:21

South Indian actresses who made big in Bollywood

The trend of South Indian actresses venturing into Bollywood with big banner movies is not something new. Apart from their curvaceous figure and sharp features, these divas left the Indian audiences spell bound by their acting prowess too. These South Indian damsels- who have migrated to Bollywood- have been successful in captivating people’s attention and setting their own mark in the Hindi cinema.

Hema Malini

Hema Malini debuted in the film industry as a supporting actress with 1963 Tamil film ‘Idhu Sathiyam’. Surprisingly she was rejected by a filmmaker for the lead role in a Tamil film! It was film producer Ananthaswamy, who saw a spark in her and casted her opposite the legendary Raj Kapoor in ‘Sapno Ka Saudagar’- which marked her entry in Bollywood. Malini’s beauty was the talk of the town and soon she was tagged as ‘Dream girl’. With successful films like ‘Johnny Mera Naam’, ‘Seeta Aur Geeta’, ‘Dreamgirl’, ‘Sholay’ etc she created her own niche in Hindi Cinema.

Rekha

Born to Tamil actor Gemini Ganesan and Telugu actress Pushpavalli, Rekha was bound to have the passion for acting in her genes. She started her film career from Kannada movie ‘Goa dalli CID 999’ at the age of 15. It was in the same year she did her first Hindi film ‘Do Shikaari’. However, the film proved to be a dud at the Box Office, but it did give Rekha some recognition. Rekha’s second film ‘Sawan Badon’ made her a star overnight. Her roles in ‘Khubsoorat’, ‘Silsila’, ‘Umrao Jaan’ etc garnered a lot of critical acclamation. At the age of 42, she looked quite impressive romancing much younger Akshay Kumar in ‘Khiladiyon Ka Khiladi’. She hardly does films these days but continues to remain a dream woman for many!

Sridevi

Tagged as the first female superstar of Bollywood, Sridevi started her career in films at the tender age of 4. At the age of 13, she played her first adult role in ‘Moondru Mudichu’. Sridevi ventured into Bollywood with ‘Solva Sawan’, which failed to rake in any appreciation. However, it didn’t come as a setback for Sridevi, who soon tasted success with ‘Himmatwala’. Sridevi’s performances in ‘Nagin’, ‘Mr.India’, ‘Chaalbaaz’, ‘Chandni’, ‘Lamhe’, ‘Judaai’ proved her versatility as an actress. Her dance numbers - ‘Hawa Hawai’, ‘Kaate Nahin Katteh’ or ‘Mere Hathon mein nau nau chudiyan’ proved that she could do a variety of dance numbers. Sridevi’s comeback movie ‘English Vinglish’ garnered a lot of critical appreciation.

Asin

Asin Thokkumal, the girl from Kerala, won Filmfare Best Telugu Actress Award for ‘Amma Nanna O Tamila Ammayi’. She made her debut in Bollywood with blockbuster ‘Ghajini’ opposite Aamir Khan. She went on to win Filmfare Best Female Debut Award for it. Asin has also starred in films like ‘Ready’ opposite Salman Khan and ‘Housefull 2’ opposite Akshay Kumar- both were commercially successful. Asin will reportedly be seen in big banners like ‘Welcome Back’ and ‘No Entry Mein Entry’.

Ileana D`Cruz

The youngest of all to join this brigade is Ileana D`Cruz- who had won the Filmfare award Best Actress for Telugu movie ‘Jalsa’. After making it big in Telugu movies, she made her Bollywood debut with Anurag Basu’s ‘Barfi!’. The movie was a super hit and was also selected as an official entry in the Best Foreign Language Film category for the 85th Academy Awards. ‘Barfi!’ also starred A-lister actors Priyanka Chopra and Ranbir Kapoor, but Ileana’s could conveniently make her presence felt. D`Cruz has movies like ‘Phata Poster Nikla Hero’ and ‘Main Tera Hero’ in her kitty.
