Written By Unknown on Sunday, 21 July 2013 | 03:24

Shah Rukh Khan

Superstar Shah Rukh Khan and Deepika Padukone have come together for a special song that pays tribute to Tamil cinema icon Rajnikanth.
Titled 'Thalaivar Tribute' (Lungi Dance), the song is sung and composed by rapper Honey Singh and is not a part of Shah Rukh starrer Chennai Express, which will hit theatres on August 9.
Shah Rukh, 47, who is busy with his upcoming film Chennai Express, said he could not say no to the song because he is a huge fan of the "global cultural icon Rajnikanth".
"Who isn't a fan of 'The Rajnikanth'? I had met Honey Singh and Bhushan Kumar five days back and he made me hear the song, which is titled Thalaivar Tribute (Lungi Dance).
"I found it very apt for Rajni sir and wanted to be a part of it as a fan of one of the greatest actors we have. Deepika, on my request, happily agreed to be a part of the song because even she is a huge fan of Rajni sir. The song is fun, happy and completely Rajnikanth Style!," Shah Rukh said.
The song is being choreographed by National Award-winning choreographer Chinni Prakash and will release soon.

I don’t find anything wrong with my lyrics: Honey Singh!!

Written By Unknown on Tuesday, 9 July 2013 | 13:02

Punjabi singer and rapper Honey Singh has been witness to many an ire, of activists and citizens alike, thanks to his ‘infamous’ lyrics. The morning of Thursday brought almost no relief for the singer as the Punjab and Haryana high court refused to interfere in the case against him, which was

filed by the NGO, Help, in May 2013.

Honey was booked at the Nawanshahr police station under Section 294 (obscene acts and songs to the annoyance of the others in public place) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC).

In Chandigarh to share his reaction, he says, “The court observed that I may resort to appropriate remedy, if any. It also disposed of the PIL (public interest litigation) filed against my songs after it said that it is for the state governments to decide whether or not they should set up some authority for the screening of songs before their release. I went through a very depressing stage, but now, I can focus on attaining my dreams again.”

The past six months we’ve seen you knee-deep in controversies, are things looking up yet?
“I am the same person I was back then. People don’t know me. My videos project a Honey who does not exist. Honey, in real life, does not party or indulge in alcohol. I also don’t find anything wrong with my lyrics; I only write about what is happening in the society.”

Isn’t there a way to project your ‘reality’ softly?
“Hindi songs like Kabhi Kabhi also have lyrics like Suhaag raat hai, ghoonghat utha raha hoon main. Simat rahi hai tu sharma ke apni baahon mein — isn’t that double meaning? I don’t want to name them but people in Hindi and Punjabi music industry have been singing double meaning songs.”

Your lyrics are targeted towards women. Many are furious…
“Just a few are furious. As a matter of fact, majority of my fans are girls.”

You have always been one of those who have benefited from negative publicity. How has the silence, ever since the PIL, worked out for you?
“It has made me stronger. I am a 30-year-old who struggled for 12 years before attaining fame. In these months, my silence helped me make 50 more songs. I managed to meet some legends such as Gurdas Maan too.”

You claim that the song, Mai Hoon Balatkari, wasn’t posted by you on YouTube?
“No, it wasn’t. YouTube is a public domain, like a parking lot — anyone can post anything there. We have submitted all required documents, and sent numerous letters to the authorities, to get the song off the site.”

And your future plans?
“I want to be a legend. I have been dreaming about being a part of the Grammy awards for 15 years. I have not achieved even five percent of what I set out for. Next, I am working on an international Punjabi song and a big banner Hindi film.”

HC disposes of plea against Honey Singh

Written By Unknown on Thursday, 4 July 2013 | 21:19

CHANDIGARH: The Punjab and Haryana high court on Thursday made it clear that it is for the Punjab government to decide whether to set up a mechanism or authority for screening vulgar or obscene songs, and for stopping the misuse of information technology by uploading such songs on internet etc.

A division bench comprising Chief Justice Sanjay Kishan Kaul and Justice A G Masih also asked the state government to decide what "checks and balances" should be incorporated in such a mechanism.

The bench has passed these orders while disposing of a petition filed by Nawanshahr-based NGO 'Help' seeking directives to Punjab government to examine the feasibility of setting up some effective mechanism for screening vulgar and obscene songs before they are played before public. It was following this petition, a criminal case was registered against Punjab rap singer Honey Singh for allegedly singing a song "Mein Hun Balatkari...."

When the matter came up for hearing on Thursday, Honey Singh was also present before the court. His counsel Anmol Rattan Singh submitted before the bench that "Honey Singh has fallen victim to his own celebrity status". He contended that the controversial song has not been sung by him. It appears that some other "Honey Singh" or some other person, impersonating his client, has sung that song.

Yo Yo Honey Singh: A Married Man?

Written By Unknown on Wednesday, 3 July 2013 | 23:46

Don’t be surprised if Yo Yo Honey Singh is left out of the next eligible bachelor count; buzz has it that the rapper has got a huge secret up his sleeve, one that might just ring the death knell on the hopes of the female half of his fan following.
Yo Yo Honey Singh: A Married Man?

When he isn't busting Youtube records, he is busy sweeping away accolades at award shows. In fact, in the one year that Yo Yo Honey Singh has spent in Bollywood, there isn't much that he hasn't done; and now we have the biggest feat of them all to add to the list: If the photos doing the rounds online are any indication, the Punjabi rapper's relationship status clocks in at a stable 'married,' a fact that he managed to keep under wraps for the better part of the last two years!

A mean feat in itself, given that when it comes to the private lives of celebs, there is precious little that goes on without the knowledge of the omnipresent gossip mills. That Ranbir secreted Katrina away for a cozy holiday is common news and Deepika's secret nightout with Ranveer Singh isn't so secret anymore. However, a series of photos released online have revealed that the Angreji Beat singer managed to keep the masses at large in the dark about his marital status, much to the dismay of his female fan following.

A series of photos depicting Honey Singh at a wedding ceremony have been released online, and while the identity of the girl in question is unknown, a helpful photographer stepped forward to spill the beans on the ceremony. "I was the official photographer at Honey Singh's wedding ceremony, which took place on January 23, 2011 at a farmhouse on the otuskirts of Delhi. There were Sikh rituals in the morning at a Gurudwara in Sarojini Nagar," conceded Delhi-based photographer Vinod Kumar in an interview with a leading daily, before producing pictures from the actual function.

However, nothing in the rapper's life is ever clear cut, and this case has taken a turn for the mysterious, with Yo Yo Honey Singh staunchly refuting all claims of being married, secretly or otherwise. In a interview with Hindustan Times, the 29 year old rapper categorically stated, "I may have a lot of girlfriends, but I am not at all married," and went on to brush off the photos pointing to the contrary as, "Those wedding pictures on the net are not true, they are from a shoot that I had done."

His words will no doubt provide a spat of relief to his female admirers at having his bachelor status reinstated, but if you ask us, this case just got a whole lot curiouser and curiouser, as Alice would have put it.
