On the sidelines of the GQ Men of the Year Awards 2013 (See photos), when a reporter asked Hrithik Roshan if ‘Krrish 3’ will break the previous box office records, the dapper actor replied: “See, whether this film will break box office records or not, I cannot say that. But we have worked really hard on the film and like we always say, we leave it to destiny now. All the best to all of us.” Congratulating GQ India on its fifth anniversary, Hrithik Roshan said: “A very happy fifth birthday to GQ. The contribution of GQ to this world is unimaginable; more than we realize, actually. Shah Rukh Khan : Made Enemies After Chennai Express

Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan, who is known as the King Khan and the Badshah of Bollywood recently revealed that he fears not being on the top in the B-Town. Throughout his film career, we know he has achieved a lot and it's not just his luck that has worked wonders for him. The actor's relentless work has paid off.

He now tells us that he always goes the extra mile to achieve success as he fears losing the top position. "I never rest on my laurels because I feel that this will be taken away one day. I have this fear that if I don't work hard enough I will lose what I have attained and not be able to continue to do so. I don't have blood pressure neither I am a heart victim but I need to just work hard," he admitted.

SRK has been the tinsel town for over two decades now and the actor talks about his ups and downs. He also mentions that he has not made any friends post Chennai Express but only more enemies. "Failures also gets you to find who your real friends are. The true strength of your relationship gets tested in the phase of strong adversity. I lost lots of friends post Ra.One, apart from losing a lot of audience too. And after Chennai Express, I haven't made any new friends but I have a whole new set of enemies now," he expressed.

Yash Chopra was a Fearless Filmmaker : SRK

Remembering film legend Yash Chopra on his 81st birth anniversary, Shah Rukh Khan said that the 'King of Romance' was a fearless filmmaker.

Shah Rukh, 47, who worked with the director right from Darr to his last project Jab Tak Hai Jaan, is all set to walk the ramp today to celebrate the late filmmaker's birthday.

SRK said Chopra was a mentor and someone who taught him a lot about cinema.

"As a person, he taught me creativity has to be fearless. You should make that film which your heart tells you to do. If it works then it's good and if it doesn't then also it is good. I am very fortunate that I worked with him for 20 years.

"I am the one actor who starred maximum in his films from the time I joined to his last venture. I am lucky to have the opportunity to have worked with the most fearless filmmaker that the country will ever have," the actor said at an event here last evening.

The Chak De! star, who is also a producer, said Chopra also gave him great production tips.

"One of the greatest learnings that I have learnt in terms of business from Yashji is that whatever you are making, the costs have to be kept in control and for that Yashji had worked really hard," he said.

Shah Rukh's last production venture "Chennai Express" is one of the highest grossers at the box-office.

Chopra, who made blockbusters like Waqt, Deewar, Silsila, Lamhe, Darr, Dil To Pagal Hai, Veer-Zara and Jab Tak Hai Jaan, died on October 21.

I am scared of coming second: SRK

A relentless worker that he is, Shah Rukh Khan often goes the extra mile to achieve success as he fears losing the top position.

The 47-year-old superstar, whose last release 'Chennai Express' is one of the highest grossers at the box-office till date, said he is constantly working hard to sustain his place in the industry.

"I am scared of losing. I am scared of coming second. I am scared of not making it big. So, I have such a fear of failure that I work harder when even I don't need to. I work longer when I don't have to."

But now basking in the success of 'Chennai Express', the actor said he has made many foes in the industry after doing the Rohit Shetty film.

I lost lots of friends post 'RA.One', apart from losing a lot of audience too. And after 'Chennai Express', I haven't made any new friends but I have a whole new set of enemies now," he added.

Shah Rukh Khan sported grey streaks at the event which he said is a part of his look for his upcoming Farah Khan directed film "Happy New Year". Having given many hit films including 'Darr', 'Baazigar',

'Dilwale Dulhaniya Le jayenge', 'Kuch Kuch Hota Hai' and 'Chak De' among others, Shah Rukh Khan he said that he still feels like a newcomer on the sets.

"When I look at a project, I feel I don't know anything and I begin the film as a newcomer. I take it as my last project and give all my efforts to make it big so that I don't repent later," he said.

I will beat SRK's record with my next film: Salman Khan

They hugged and made up recently at an Iftaar party but Salman Khan is in no mood to relent when it comes to their box office rivalry and claims he will outdo Shah Rukh Khan with his next film.

Salman acknowledged that SRK starrer beat the box office records set by him but is not too worried about ‘Chennai Express’ earning Rs 225.67 crore.

"I hugged Shah Rukh during Ramadan because it was a pious month and it's not only me who should show such gestures to friends but all should do that. It's a being human act.

"I don't have any personal enmity with him and I know his release broke all my records. If I have any problem then I want to beat the person through my work. My next release will be an answer to all the new records which are going to happen at the box-office be it Aamir's 'Dhoom 3' or new actor Ranbir's next film," Salman said during a press conference for 'Bigg Boss' season 7.

Salman, 47, returns as the host of the celebrity reality show on Colors for the fourth time and when asked whether he will invite his ‘Karan Arjun’ co-star on the show, he was all for it.

"I will invite Shah Rukh on my show. If he wants to come and promote his film, he is most welcome," he said. Asked if he would like to do a show like Aamir's 'Satyamev Jayate', Salman joked, "I am open to do anything. If Aamir does not want to host it then I will associate myself with the show. Not only 'Satyamev Jayate', if Bachchan sahab feels he is too old to host 'Kaun Banega Crorepati' then I will do that also."

The actor, who was in a jovial mood during the press conference, said the only question that makes him angry is about his marriage.

"Nothing happen without God's wish. When I will get a girl I will definitely get married. People who ask me such questions, I feel they are brain dead," he said.

Our homegrown Khiladi #1 is clearly sharing Once Upon a time in Mumbai Dobarara producer Ekta Kapoor's bad mood these days. After the movie lost out to Chennai Express at the box office, it seems the critics took care of whatever else was left, calling it 'not even a one-time watch'.

A fuming Akshay Kumar lashed out at the critics saying that the only opinion that matters is that of the audience watching the movie, and that the critics need to be writing about that rather than their own. He further added that 'the audience is never wrong'.

The rant continued with Akshay adding that most critics don't know the basics of filmmaking which makes them unfit to understand what today's smart audience appreciates. He added that he only respects those critics who write keeping the viewers in mind.

But, why this late in the day Akshay? Could it have anything to do with the fact that Ekta Kapoor is none too happy with Akshay either, for allegedly not being present during the movies promotional activities? Or for that matter not taking a cue from King Khan himself, who continued to promote the movie days after it was released.

One thing's for sure, Akshay's reaction came right around the time it was reported that Chennai Express is close to touching the Rs.200-crore mark in profits while presently resting at a whopping Rs.197 crore. Clearly a case of too many bitter lemons for Lemony Snickets.

Success of Chennai Express good sign for Indian films, says SRK

Shahrukh Khan’s latest flick ‘Chennai Express’ has reportedly been doing remarkably well in North India and the southern box office, as well as internationally.

Khan told the reporters at INOX theatre, while promoting his flick with Rohit Shetty, that the film’s success is a good sign for Indian cinema.

“It’s a good sign not only for us, but for the films that came and that will come in the next five-six months... the market of Indian films is so big,” King Khan said.

The film has already crossed 100-crore-mark in its first weekend and is still going strong at the box office.

“Our market is growing extensively and very soon people will be comparing our market to international markets and for me that is very heartening,” Khan added.

Shah Rukh Khan Banned From Entering Two Mumbai Multiplexes

Two Mumbai mall multiplexes refused to entertain Shah Rukh Khan for the promotion of his latest film Chennai Express.

Even as Shah Rukh Khan's Chennai Express enters its second week, the star is leaving no stone unturned to promote his film as much as possible. In fact, he has also been visiting several theatres across the city to check out the audience's reaction to his movie, in which he features alongside Deepika Padukone. However, he took to his microblogging site on Thursday to declare that he had been denied entry at two city multiplexes.

Insiders say the surprising rule was levied on the star keeping in mind the public safety at the shopping malls that house these theatres. Shah Rukh tweeted "Have to avoid visiting PVR Phoenix Kurla and PVR Phoenix Lower Parel. Independenceday rush etc. Will see you at rest of the enlisted theaters." And before that he had tweeted, "Have been refrained by authorities from visiting PVR Phoenix Kurla and PVR Phoenix Lower Parel..Will see you at the other enlisted theaters."

According to a source close to the theatre owners, Shah Rukh had approached them to seek permissions to visit the venue. "SRK had been granted the permission by the multiplexes and it was duly advertised. But at the last minute, the mall owners reversed their decision. The reason provided by them for making a U-turn was that SRK's presence would bring in huge crowds of people and that at the last minute, they hadn't been able to arrange for adequate man power to control the swelling crowds. On national holidays, the footfall nearly doubles. But if he still decided to come, we are ready to welcome him," adds the source.

An employee at the mall, on the condition of anonymity, says, "The last time when a big star had come for a visit, it had resulted in a lot of property damage amounting to huge losses for the owners. This time they want to play safe.

Chennai Express slammed by critics, loved by audiences

When the content is good, a film works despite bad reviews. Chennai Express is the best example of this. Defying critics, replete with witty dialogues, an entertaining story and Shah Rukh Khan and Deepika Padukone's never-seen-before-kind-of-personas, the romantic comedy zoomed at superfast speed at the box office to earn Rs.100 crore in the first weekend itself - and is headed to rake in much more moolah.

Before the release, the 47-year-old superstar had described it as a family entertainer and true to this, all the family members can thoroughly enjoy it together, thanks to its clean content.

"Kya gadar film banai hai," said a 10-year-old during the course of the movie at the capital's Rivoli theatre.

Gaurav Verma, director, India Theatrical Distribution, Studios, Disney UTV, said Chennai Express has shown an amazing sustenance post its record opening Friday.

"The film maintained it on the second and the third day, which shows how well it is being accepted and loved by the audiences. This is the only reason why it has successfully created a new benchmark at the box office and will continue to do so," Verma said in a statement.

The film was crucial to Shah Rukh as his last few releases like Ra.One and Jab Tak Hai Jaan failed to live up to the expectations of the viewers as well as the distributors.

However, Rohit Shetty seems to have bailed out Shah Rukh by giving him a makeover in Chennai Express, which also marks coming of age of Deepika, who has hit the bull's eye with her performance as a Tamil speaking girl.

Chennai Express hit over 3,500 screens in the country and about 800 screens abroad, including seven unconventional markets - Peru, Morocco, Germany, Switzerland, Austria, France and Israel.

The action comedy, made at a budget of Rs.70 crore, earned Rs. 6.75 crore from Thursday previews in India and on opening day, Aug 9, Rs.33.12 crore. The movie, produced by Red Chillies Entertainment and UTV Motion Pictures, pulled in Rs.28.05 crore on Saturday and Rs. 32.50 crore on Sunday. The total amounted to Rs. 100.42 crore net in India.

As always, Shah Rukh Khan didn't leave any stone unturned to promote the film despite health issues.

From appearances on TV shows to launching a game prior to the movie's release, the makers of

Chennai Express did everything to hammer it into everyone's mind. And this has paid rich dividends.

The film didn't get rave reviews from the critics, who panned it saying it is a "big, fat bore" and "a slog". But Shetty, who has directed hit films like Singham and the Golmaal series, was unperturbed as bad reviews are his lucky charm and it has turned out to be true in this case as well.

Karthik Kumar, a film blogger, said: "It's an archetypal Rohit Shetty film with lots of fun. You can't expect his films to pique your intellect, can you? It's for the masses and I'm sure they are loving it."

Apart from criticism, there were other hurdles.

The Chitrapat Sena, the film wing of the Maharashtra Navnirman Sena, threatened to disrupt and stop its release as it reportedly attempted to remove ongoing popular Marathi movies from single-screen cinemas in the state.

But criticism and hurdles notwithstanding, Chennai Express is racing ahead at the box office and re-strengthening Shah Rukh's position, which got a blow after the debacle of his last few films.

Now Chennai Express seems to be on the road to create history.

Sowmya Iyer, a fan of Shah Rukh, said: "I think it's superb movie, which for the first time the director has attempted to make a fusion movie of Tamil and Hindi. It is full of comedy, emotion which we love. Hats off to SRK and Rohit shetty."

Chennai Express which has raked in a whopping Rs.33.12 shattered the previous record of Salman's spy thriller Ek Tha Tiger which has garned a collection of Rs.32.92 crore on its opening day.

After beating 3 Idiots and earning Rs.6.75 crore on the paid preview day, Chennai Express is definitely setting new opening day and paid previews records and benchmarks at the domestic box office front.




The movie has taken the box office by storm in international markets as well.

Adarsh shared on Twitter that the movie took a "huge start in US-Canada", earning $2,60,000 (Rs.15, 776,020.00 approximately) out of Thursday night preview shows.

'Chennai Express' review: This vehicle is worth being onboard for once!

If watching vehicle chase sequences, cars being blown up in the air and muscled goons is your film genre of choice, then you would know that we could be talking about Rohit Shetty of the ‘Golmaal’ series fame. This time Rohit Shetty, one of the heavily critiqued film makers of the current crop for his directorial ways, has come up with Shah Rukh Khan and Deepika Padukone starrer 'Chennai Express'.

Quite obviously, this unique combo of Shetty and Khan is enough to make one curious about their product. But once you go for it, you won’t regret watching ‘Chennai Express’, as you would have been after watching ‘Golmaal 2’ and ‘Golmaal 3’.

The journey on-screen begins with Rahul (Shah Rukh Khan back with one of his favourite screen names) on way from Mumbai to join his friends in Goa for a vacation. But at his foster grandmother’s behest, he reluctantly agrees to go to Rameshwaram to immerse the ashes of his dead grandfather. He boards Chennai Express but all his plans are foiled by a Tamilian damsel in distress – the runaway Meena – daughter of Komban village’s don Dugeshwara – who runs into Rahul accidentally while being chased by four of her brothers. Now as the story unfolds, it is revealed that Meena’s father wants her to get married against her wishes, and Rahul is supposed to be the girl’s knight in shining armour. The rest of the story is a riot of hilarious, romantic and action sequences with some interesting drama peppered and pickled in.

The Tamilian don and his henchmen (with hacking knives in hand) are shown in their full glory; as are the exotic locations down South. Seriously, cinematographer Dudley has an eye for capturing the Southern landscape in its abundance, and the breathtaking locations that one would see in ‘Chennai Express’ are going to make nature lovers fall in love with the lower reaches of the Indian subcontinent.

Crowd puller Shah Rukh Khan, in his act throughout the film, is zany, charming and at times flinching. On the other side, Deepika’s character exudes shades of rebellion, warmth and commitment. Her Hindi with Tamil accents sounds easy on the ears, convincing and humour inducing. Together the pair’s camaraderie on the celluloid results in funny situations and makes their chemistry more compelling.

The music of the film by composer duo Vishal-Shekhar boasts of a couple of good tracks like ‘Titli’ and ‘1 2 3 4 Get On The Dance Floor’. When played on the 70mm, the background number ‘Chennai Express’ ups the excitement level. But songs like ‘Kashmir Main Tu Kanyakumari’ could have been skipped. If we think from the film maker’s perspective, the so-called unwanted songs we are talking about would have been added with the idea of putting more depth to the romance angle of the film.

One of the downsides of ‘Chennai Express’ is its predictability. As the story moves forward, the guessing game becomes easier, thereby revealing the climax of the movie. Second, like any of the previous Rohit Shetty’s films, this one too is nothing really out-of-the box or one that can qualify for awards. It is Shah Rukh Khan’s act that makes the film substantial and keeps one hooked.

That said, if you ignore the few clichés (the repetition of ‘Dilwale Dulhaniya Le Jayenge’ scenes and the lines that we have heard SRK speaking in his popular films), the lack of punch in the script and even the high predictability factor, then you are onboard for a fun ride with ‘Chennai Express’!

Can't stop smiling: Shah Rukh Khan on success of Chennai Express

Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan'sChennai Express, which released on the auspicious occasion of Eid-ul-Fitr Friday, says he can't stop smiling thanks to the overwhelming response to the movie.

"I can't stop smiling. Till the time I don't stop smiling, the excitement won't settle down," Shah Rukh said at a press conference held here Friday.

The conference was held at the compound of his Bandra bungalow Mannat, and he was accompanied by Chennai Expressdirector Rohit Shetty.

Shah Rukh said he is happy with the initial response, but he wants to wait for some more days to see how the film sustains.

"It is nice that the film is doing well. I want to wait for three to four days. I am happy that people have liked the film and it has opened well," he said.

However, he didn't know about the film's success in terms of numbers.

"I don't know how much (business) it has done till now. I just woke up. If a big film releases, I try to refrain for at least two to three days (from counting the collections)," he said.

"Chennai Express has a positive message for women, and Shah Rukh says he is glad it has been able to depict the message in a convincing yet subtle way.

"The film has a message, but it is not on the face. The film is a made up story. She (The female character played by Deepika Padukone) is a strong woman who runs away from home. We have made a point in the film without making a point of it," he said.

The film has several Tamil dialogues, but sans subtitles. It was a conscious decision, SRK said.

"The idea was to show the audience what the hero is going through. Also, love has no language. If we start explaining, then the point is lost. It will spoil the creativity," he added.

Patience pays off for Shah Rukh, Deepika!

New Delhi: While it is proverbially impossible for any young actress to turn down the offer to work with Shah Rukh Khan, in Deepika Padukone's case it has been a conscious decision. Having kicked off her career in Bollywood with Farah Khan's 'Om Shanti Om' opposite King Khan, Deepika was approached by several filmmakers to share the screen space with him, again. However, both SRK and Deepika took close to five years to do a film together. Interestingly, Deepika and SRK agreed to take up Rohit Shetty's 'Chennai Express' for its absolute power of composition and a flawless mix of comedy and action.

"I'm genuinely happy that I got to work with Shah Rukh again. And the fact that this happened after 5 years, the excitement is understandably huge. Even though we were offered movies post the success of 'Om Shanti Om', we decided not to take a decision in haste," she explains.

Unlike others onscreen couples of Bollywood, who take up multiple projects post the success of their first film, SRK and Deepika waited for the right opportunity. The actors were firm about doing a project which allowed them to deliver humour, emotion and passion, all to complete the movie going experience for their supporters.

Clear about what she was looking for, and determined about leaving an impact which was as indelible as 'Om Shanti Om', Deepika is elated that her patience paid off. "We took time because we were certain about taking up a project, which was as special as our first movie. 'Om Shanti Om' will always be special to me as it was my first Bollywood film. There was so much to learn. For me, 'OSO' experience was enriching," she replies. And if Rohit Shetty's 'Chennai Express' was given a nod, that was only because "much like 'Om Shanti Om', this film too offers an interesting blend of romance, drama and comedy. All in all, it is a complete family entertainer. I want people to love and enjoy the film," she adds.

Whether the film provokes real tears and heartfelt laughter is yet to be seen, but if the actors' chemistry is anything to go by, 'Chennai Express' is expected to find several takers.

As Deepika recalls, speaking in Tamil accent, which called for consistent efforts, to make her role believable, wasn't an easy job. "Honestly, doing justice to the role wasn't difficult. Since I'm from South India, there weren't any problems in adapting to the culture. I'm familiar with the cultural practices, behavioral patterns and the mannerisms. But getting the accent right was difficult. It was only after I watched a few videos that I could understand the language. And in the next three to four days I realised it would happen perfectly," she said.

While her Tamil-Hindi accent has left many irked, the actress maintains that her upcoming film doesn't mock South India in any manner. The actress has hit back at her detractors by saying since she and Rohit Shetty belong to South India, they wouldn't spoof their own culture. But will those who take digs at the stars for no valid reason understand this?

Not interested in taking up a stereotypical role created for Asians in Hollywood, Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan says "to get a role not specific to my colour or the way I speak or act is very difficult".

He has been active in Hindi films for over two decades, has featured in more than 80 films and is a superstar, but the 47-year-old has yet to find a suitable role in international films.

A hugely popular actor in many international countries, one whose face has become synonymous with the huge draw of the Indian film industry, particularly the Mumbai-based Hindi film industry, King Khan feels he doesn't have the USP to work in Hollywood.

Asked what made him think so, he said: "I didn't talk in terms of fan following."

"I think the kind of role I would want to do in a Hollywood film is one that makes India proud. To get a role like that is not specific to my colour, or the way I speak, look or act or my age, it's very difficult," said Shah Rukh.

"I mean you can't go to a big filmmaking world and say write a role for a 47-year-old actor who is brown, has hair like this, acts this way, dances a bit... the role should be something that Indians should be proud of. It's too specific for me to have a USP."

He however appreciated Indian faces who are doing well on the international arena.

"There are a few young boys and girls, who are doing really well internationally, and I pray they make it big," he said.

Shah Rukh relishes and cherishes all the love and attention showered on him on the home turf and is set to woo his fans with Chennai Express.

In fact, he is right now busy driving the buzz around the comedy drama, coming out this Friday, his first film with new age master of comedies Rohit Shetty.

Sharing his experience of working with Shetty, Shah Rukh said: "Rohit is fantastically organised. The best part about him is that he has a group of 200 trained people working under him. Rohit knows what he wants. He always delivers the best."

Chennai Express, Shah Rukh's second film with Deepika Padukone after the 2007 super duper hit Om Shanti Om, has a popular train scene from his Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge.

Interestingly, in Chennai Express the name of Shah Rukh's character is Rahul, a screen title he has donned in a string of hits.

He confesses to being a director's actor.

"I'm a director's actor. I belong to a world which directors create. I enjoy being with them in their world. I want the world to see me as an actor who moulds himself according to the character his director creates for him," said Shah Rukh.

The Hindi film industry, which is celebrating its 100 years this year, has evolved with new filmmakers enlivening the silver screen with new subjects, Shah Rukh said, adding it's not a new trend.

"There's Gangs of Wasseypur, Barfi!... all kinds of films are being made, which is good," said Shah Rukh.

"There have always been all kinds of filmmakers who make films like Iron Man, Batman and Chak De! India. It's always parallel. When I did Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge, there was Maya Memsaab too.

"I always try to work on a different genre. I feel the industry has given me name, fame and money and I won't ever forgive myself if I won't do anything beneficial for Indian cinema and my fans."

From romantic to villainous and from action to superhero - Shah Rukh has delved into a variety of roles.

Asked how he is in real life, Shah Rukh said: "I am a little like all of them. There are parts and portions of me that you see in my characters also. If I play a father, I do it the way I would do it with my kids. If I play a lover, I behave the same way I am in real life. I would say I am a funny person but also gentle and kind."

MNS chief Raj Thackeray green lights Chennai Express!

yesterday, we had reported that the upcoming Shah Rukh Khan- Deepika Padukone starrer Chennai Expresshad run into a bit of trouble with the Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS). The trouble arised when MNS Chitrapat Sena (Film Wing) threatened to disrupt and stop the film's release on August 9, since the film had booked a maximum number of screens, affecting the business of Marathi film Duniyadari which is doing phenomenally well at the BO. 

However, in a meeting yesterday between the makers of the film and MNS chief Raj Thackeray, the latter waved the green flag for the hassle-free release ofChennai Express in Maharashtra. Reaching this decision after listening to both parties (Chennai Express andDuniyadari), Thackeray ruled that if Duniyadari was not removed from single screen cinemas across the state, then the MNS would not object to the release and run of Chennai Express in Maharashtra.

Chennai Express gets MNS green signal

Mumbai: Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) chief Raj Thackeray Thursday waved the green flag for the hassle-free release of Shah Rukh Khan-Deepika Padukone starrer ‘Chennai Express’ in Maharashtra.

The development came a day after the MNS Chitrapat Sena (Film Wing) threatened to disrupt and stop its release Aug 8 as it reportedly attempted to dislodge ongoing popular Marathi movies from single-sreen cinemas in the state.

The party was upset with reports that the Rohit Shetty directed movie had demanded prime slots in single screen cinemas and even some multiplexes in the state where the superhit Marathi movie ‘Duniyadari’ has been running to packed houses since July 19.

On Thursday afternoon, Shetty, and ‘Duniyadari’ director Sanjay Jadhav and others called on Thackeray to hammer out a solution.

After listening to both parties, Thackeray ruled that if ‘Duniyadari’ was not yanked off single screen cinemas across the state, then the MNS would not object to the release and run of "Chennai Express" in Maharashtra.

After both parties agreed to this suggestion, the decks have been cleared for ‘Chennai Express’ release in the city and the state.

Adopting an aggressive stance Wednesday, MNS Chitrapat Sena chief Amey Khopkar had threatened to bar ‘Chennai Express’ if it was done at the expense of ‘Duniyadari’ or any other Marathi movies, especially in single-screen cinemas.

He also wrote to the owners of all single screen theatres seeking a commitment from them that they would not rip off Marathi films for giving a prime time platform to ‘Chennai Express’.

Based on the best-selling novel of the same title by the late Suhas Shirwalkar, ‘Duniyadari’ has been a major commercial success with critical acclaim, earning a record Rs. 5 crore since its release.

It stars Swapnil Joshi and Urmila Kanitkar in the lead roles and tells the story of a modern affluent youngster`s journey and it has gone down well with the Marathi film lovers.
