Kapil Sharma offered financial support from Bollywood – Shahrukh Khan, Lata Mangeshkar, Rohit Shetty!!!

After a massive fire engulfed the sets of the comedy show Comedy Nights With Kapil last week destroying the massive property, the standup comedian’s B-town friends have come up with full force to provide him monetary support

Shahrukh Khan is leading the Bollywood brigade, who’s expressing their solidarity and concern with Kapil Sharma, whose popular comedy show – Comedy Nights With Kapilcaught fire on September 25. The producer-comedian couldn’t have asked for more!

It’s learnt that along with SRK, B-town biggies – Lata Mangeshkar and Rohit Shetty also called Kapil not only to express their concern and grief but also offered economic support. “I got a call from Lataji and she asked if I need any kind of help, whether monetary or anything. Her call was a big thing,” Kapil said adding, “Also Shahrukh Khan, Rohit Shetty and lot of people from the industry called me and said ‘hum tumhare saath hai, batao kitne din mein set khada karna hai’. I am truly overwhelmed. The industry is like a family.”

Considering King Khan visited Sharma’s madcap house twice (for Chennai Express promotion), his affection for the comedian is totally understood, but surprisingly the Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa host was surprised to receive calls from the legendary singer and the Chennai Express director.

However, Kapil is thrilled that the audience loves his show and he hopes it to continue. The two episodes supposed to be aired over weekend have already been shot. But, for the upcoming episodes they will be shooting on the sets of Bigg Boss Saath 7 show. Hmmm… we wonder how Salman Khan can be left behind as far as helping his industry friends is considered!

I am scared of coming second: SRK

A relentless worker that he is, Shah Rukh Khan often goes the extra mile to achieve success as he fears losing the top position.

The 47-year-old superstar, whose last release 'Chennai Express' is one of the highest grossers at the box-office till date, said he is constantly working hard to sustain his place in the industry.

"I am scared of losing. I am scared of coming second. I am scared of not making it big. So, I have such a fear of failure that I work harder when even I don't need to. I work longer when I don't have to."

"I never rest on my laurels because I feel that this will be taken away one day. I have this fear that if I don't work hard enough I will lose what I have attained and not be able to continue to do so. I don't have blood pressure neither I am a heart victim but I need to just work hard," he said on the sidelines of 40th National Management Convention by All India Management Association (AIMA).

A star in the industry for two decades, Shah Rukh said that his journey has not been a cakewalk and he did face his share of failures.

But now basking in the success of 'Chennai Express', the actor said he has made many foes in the industry after doing the Rohit Shetty film.

"Failures also gets you to find who your real friends are. The true strength of your relationship gets tested in the phase of strong adversity. I lost lots of friends post 'RA.One', apart from losing a lot of audience too. And after 'Chennai Express', I haven't made any new friends but I have a whole new set of enemies now," he added.

Shah Rukh Khan sported grey streaks at the event which he said is a part of his look for his upcoming Farah Khan directed film "Happy New Year". Having given many hit films including 'Darr', 'Baazigar',

'Dilwale Dulhaniya Le jayenge', 'Kuch Kuch Hota Hai' and 'Chak De' among others, Shah Rukh Khan he said that he still feels like a newcomer on the sets.

"When I look at a project, I feel I don't know anything and I begin the film as a newcomer. I take it as my last project and give all my efforts to make it big so that I don't repent later," he said.

MNS chief Raj Thackeray green lights Chennai Express!

yesterday, we had reported that the upcoming Shah Rukh Khan- Deepika Padukone starrer Chennai Expresshad run into a bit of trouble with the Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS). The trouble arised when MNS Chitrapat Sena (Film Wing) threatened to disrupt and stop the film's release on August 9, since the film had booked a maximum number of screens, affecting the business of Marathi film Duniyadari which is doing phenomenally well at the BO. 

However, in a meeting yesterday between the makers of the film and MNS chief Raj Thackeray, the latter waved the green flag for the hassle-free release ofChennai Express in Maharashtra. Reaching this decision after listening to both parties (Chennai Express andDuniyadari), Thackeray ruled that if Duniyadari was not removed from single screen cinemas across the state, then the MNS would not object to the release and run of Chennai Express in Maharashtra.

SRK promotes 'Chennai Express' on the sets of 'Tarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah'

Shahrukh Khan promoted his upcoming film Chennai Express on the sets ‘Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah’ in Mumbai, on Tuesday evening.

Going by the pics from the sets, seems like Shahrukh Khan had a gala time promoting his movie. He wrote on Twitter after the shoot: “Such simplicity and love on the sets of Tarak Mehta ka Ulta Chasma. Learnt to look at life simply. Now half workday over...next half starts.”

Hrithik's KRRISH 3 promo with SRK's CHENNAI EXPRESS!!

The suspense is finally over. After weeks of speculations, it is now confirmed that the first theatrical promo of one of the biggest Hindi films ever made, KRRISH 3, would be out with CHENNAI EXPRESS. 


"Yes, that's correct," our reliable source informs us, "All formalities have been taken care of and the First Look of the Hrithik Roshan starrer would now be out with the Shahrukh Khan biggie." 

It was around a month back when Rakesh Roshan had expressed keen interest in bringing his sci-fi superhero action thriller with the Rohit Shetty directed affair. Though he had mentioned about being 'in talks' with Shahrukh and UTV (co-producers of the film), Roshan Sr. had also stated that '....launching the trailer with a big film guarantees many eyeballs.' 

Well, his dream is now coming true with the confirmation coming in.

Rohit Shetty's SHAATIR help for Emraan Hashmi!

next was in a title problem. The producer UTV Motion Pictures and director Kunal Deshmukh had zeroed in the title SHAATIR for this thriller. However, when they checked to register this, they realized that SHAATIR belonged to Ashtavinayak. This was a huge cause of concern for the makers. Incidentally, when UTV officials met Rohit Shetty for a casual meeting since the two are working on CHENNAI EXPRESS, this topic somehow came up. Rohit, who has had an exceptional relationship with Ashtavinayak having made the super hit GOLMAAL series with them, agreed to speak to Ashtavinayak and suddenly things fell in place. One call from Rohit ensured that Emraan Hashmi got his title and the makers were thrilled and grateful to Rohit Shetty for helping the situation.


Manish Hariprasad, Creative Director Disney-UTV confirms, "For the Kunal Deshmukh film starring Emraan Hashmi, UTV wanted the title SHAATIR. But the same title was registered by Ashtavinayak. We mentioned it to Rohit Shetty who we have a great relationship with, and has worked extensively with Ashtavinayak. Rohit was extremely helpful, he immediately spoke to Ashtavinayak and helped us get the title from them."

Chennai Express Music Review

Chennai Express is the upcoming commercial caper from Rohit Shetty, his first collaboration with Shah Rukh Khan and Red Chillies Entertainment. The film also marks Deepika Padukone and Shah Rukh Khan’s second film together, since Padukone’s debut with Khan in Om Shanti Om 6 years ago.

Vishal Dadlani and Shekhar Ravjiani (Student of the Year and Ra.One), Red Chillies favourites, who previously composed for Shetty’s Golmaal in 2006 return as the music directors for Chennai Express while Amitabh Bhattacharya (Lootera) has been roped in to pen the 8-track soundtrack. Vocal talents featured in the album consist of Hamsika Iyer (‘Chammak Challo’ – Ra.One), Arjit Singh (‘Raabta’ – Agent Vinod), Sunidhi Chauhan (‘Sheela Ki Jawaani’ – Tees Maar Khan), Chinmayee (‘Tere Bina’ – Guru), Anusha Mani (Don 2 – Title Track), Neeti Mohan (‘Ishq Wala Love’ – Student of the Year), and S P Balasubrimaniyam (Look him up kids!) who returns to Bollywood after approximately 15 years. Also featured are Vishal Dadlani and Amitabh Bhattacharya as well as Mr Gopi Sunder, award winning Malayalam music director (for Anwar in 2010) who has previously collaborated with Vishal-Shekhar as a keyboard programmer.

Chennai Express arrives as a platform (read cinema) near you on 8 August 2013.

The album kick starts with One Two Three Four, an item number featuring prominent southern heroine, Priyamani (Raavan). It is a loud and energetic number that arguably makes a gross generalisation about dance tracks from South Indian cinema. That being said, it is composed in good humour (ala Mehmood style southern-ised Hindi tracks) and the hooks are undeniably infectious. The southern signature musical arrangements are a nice touch, and the lyrical interlude in Madhurai (or what research dictates to be Madhurai) set the song apart from others in the genre. Hamsika Iyer and Vishal Dadlani are at the helm of this uncharacteristically well-written item number and the gusto with which they render the song is palpable. However, the chorus line, “Booty Shake Booty Shake, Dapaankoothu Hardcore, Shoulder Hichik Michik, Body Hichik Michik, Gimme Gimme Some More’ borders on the amateurish.

Titli is one of the more sober tracks of album and a very beautiful one at that. The promos of the track have been making rounds on the airwaves and the track has already won audiences over so a review is arguably more or less moot. Regardless, Chinamayee and Gopi do a fantastic job rendering this soulful romantic duet, their fresh vocals a treat for sore ears. Musically, Vishal-Shekhar hit the spot. The traditional southern beginning with Tamil lyrics flows into a moderately paced melodious contemporary-esque number with impressive lyrics. The dup-step version of Titli is strictly okay.

Tera Raasta Chhodoon Na continues from where ‘Titli’ left off, in that it is easy on the ears but it also adopts a light and quick rhythm that distinguishes it from its predecessor. It is devoid of any reference to southern musical arrangements and lyrical interludes which is certainly refreshing. Amitabh heads the track, supported by Anusha Mani, both complimenting each other well. Further, it is well penned which makes the track more likeable.

Next is Kashmir Main Tu Kanyakumari which is quite a cute song to bob along to but at the end of the day it is relatively unremarkable. Arjit, Sunidhi and Neeti have been more of less wasted and the music almost seems to be a mediocre template superimposed upon the vocals. It may resonate differently once depicted onscreen but for now it will not be missed.

Ready Steady Po is a decently arranged techno track hinting at being a situational number or part of the background score but fails to impress either way.

The much awaited SP Balasubrimanium song, the title track, is likeable enough and it is definitely a delight to hear the veteran after a 15 year gap. Arguably, the composition is way beneath his stature but you would not be able to gage a hint of it from SPB’s enthusiastic and heartfelt rendition. Lyrically, the song features more English words than Hindi and Tamil. Though, Amitabh must be congratulated on aptly inserting the English words, the exercise does get tired rather quickly.  The track sounds tailor made for an Om-Shanti-Om-like closing credits and one imagines it will fare better if utilised as same. Other than that the track’s average at best.

Similar to remixed alternatives of tracks a few years ago, mash-ups are possibly becoming the new rage when it comes to album fillers. The Chennai Express mash-up is strictly speaking a clever jumble of the preceding tracks and saves you the trouble of listening to the more mediocre tracks of the album in their entirety without missing the good bits about them. However, it can come of as being a little loud and messy. Vishal-Shekhar’s previous mash-up for Student of the Year was flawless in comparison but arguably it was the sum of far better songs than this one.

In summary, the soundtrack of Chennai Express is not far from what you expect from a proclaimed commercial entertainer. It is loud, energetic, fun and promises same for its on-screen incarnations. That being said, Titli and Tera Raasta are clearly distinguishable from its roaring accompaniments and re-instate why Vishal-Shekhar are the go to composers, regardless of film genre, for this era. The remaining tracks, while not as impressive are not entirely dismissible, having decent entertainment value. All in all the music of Chennai Express is an average fare when one could have easily expected a lot more.

Shah Rukh Khan ropes in Honey Singh for Chennai Express

It looks like Shah Rukh Khan is determined to leave no stone unturned to ensure his latest project Chennai Express works out just fine. And then some more.

 

His latest brainwave is to get the much sought-after Honey Singh to compose a very special item song. A move that has apparently not gone down well with composers Vishal-Shekhar who have composed the rest of the songs in this eagerly-awaited film.

 

Says a source close to Honey Singh, “He was very pleasantly surprised to get a call from Shah Rukh about a  very special song.”

Says the ebullient rock star, “I was very very surprised and happy to hear from Shah Rukh Bhai. He said he wanted me to do a particular song for Chennai Express and told me to do what I could. I wrote and composed the song while I was in Mauritius. Both Shah Rukh Bhai and I are huge Rajinikanth fans. This number is our tribute to Rajinikanth.”

 

About Vishal-Shekhar’s disapproval of his presence in the Chennai Express soundtrack Honey Singh shrugs, “What can I do? If Shah Rukh Bhai asked me to do a song I couldn’t refuse. I am just doing my job to the best of my abilities.I can tell you this much. When the song comes out it will be a craze among not just Shah Rukh and my fans, but also among Rajini Sir’s fans.”

SRK parties with Karan Johar and Deepika at Olive for two consecutive weekends

Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan, who is recovering from his shoulder surgery, was spotted partying with close friend Karan Johar, arch-rival Salman Khan's sister-in-law Malaika Arora Khan and actress Shamita Shetty at Olive Bar in Mumbai this Saturday.

Post recovery, SRK will get busy with the promotions of his Rohit Shetty directed movie with Deepika and the actor is fully utilising his time with family and friends.

Last week too Shah Rukh Khan kept journalists waiting for over two hours at his Red Chillies office while he sneaked out to meet daughter Suhana.

Suhana was scheduled to fly out of Mumbai that night for a vacation with her friends and her doting father wanted to meet her before she left. He then returned to his Red Chillies office, finished a few interviews before deciding to throw an impromptu party for Chennai Express team at Olive, Bandra.

Sources say that King Khan called his friend A D Singh and got the restaurant opened at 4 am to spend an evening with friends.

His Chennai Express' leading lady Deepika Padukone sent for her personal music system. They were also joined by the cast and crew of Chennai Express, who ended up partying at Olive till 7 am on June 13.

Celebrity manager Pooja Dadlani posted a picture on Instagram with SRK, Deepika and Rohit Shetty from the party on June 14.

Akshay Kumar Clash With Rohit Shetty And Shahrukh Khan

On the face of it, the August 8 Ramzan Eid clash between Shah Rukh Khan (Chennai Express) and Akshay Kumar (Once Upon a Time in Mumbaai 2) seems like a fight between two Bollywood superstars. And the trade, media and public are already vying for ringside seats to the big clash.


But the ones who are actually fighting it out the third time around are Akki and Rohit Shetty, who had same day releases in Diwali 2009 when Akshay came with Blue and Rohit broughtAll the Best. Verdict: Blue failed, All the Best won.

In 2010, Akshay's Action Replayy came with Rohit's Golmaal 3. Akshay lost, Rohit made it to the 100-cr club.

In 2012, Akshay was meant to come with Khiladi 786 during Diwali. However, since a bitter battle was already brewing between Ajay Devgn's Son Of Sardaar and SRK's Jab Tak Hai Jaan, Akshay prudently moved his Khiladi to a later date.

Anyway, the fact of the matter remains that this is the third time around that Akshay and Rohit will clash.

Who gets lucky in this third round is something we have to wait and watch.
