Rohit Shetty's SHAATIR help for Emraan Hashmi!

Written By Unknown on Monday, 22 July 2013 | 00:10

EMRAAN HASHMI and ROHIT SHETTYnext was in a title problem. The producer UTV Motion Pictures and director Kunal Deshmukh had zeroed in the title SHAATIR for this thriller. However, when they checked to register this, they realized that SHAATIR belonged to Ashtavinayak. This was a huge cause of concern for the makers. Incidentally, when UTV officials met Rohit Shetty for a casual meeting since the two are working on CHENNAI EXPRESS, this topic somehow came up. Rohit, who has had an exceptional relationship with Ashtavinayak having made the super hit GOLMAAL series with them, agreed to speak to Ashtavinayak and suddenly things fell in place. One call from Rohit ensured that Emraan Hashmi got his title and the makers were thrilled and grateful to Rohit Shetty for helping the situation.

Manish Hariprasad, Creative Director Disney-UTV confirms, "For the Kunal Deshmukh film starring Emraan Hashmi, UTV wanted the title SHAATIR. But the same title was registered by Ashtavinayak. We mentioned it to Rohit Shetty who we have a great relationship with, and has worked extensively with Ashtavinayak. Rohit was extremely helpful, he immediately spoke to Ashtavinayak and helped us get the title from them."

After 'Ghanchakkar', Emraan Hashmi To Play A Conman Again In 'Shatir'

Written By Unknown on Friday, 19 July 2013 | 23:26

Emraan Hashmi is all set to play a conman again after 'Ghanchakkar' in Disney-UTV's upcoming project 'Shatir'.

Emraan, is re-teaming with his 'Jannat' director Kunal Deshmukh in the film, which also stars Paresh Rawal in a key role. A leading lady is yet to be finalised for the flick.

"We are very excited with our next production which is now called 'Shatir'. This will be Emraan's second film with us and we are looking forward to work with him on something he has not played before and he is also very excited about playing a character of a 'shatir' conman," said Manish Hariprasad,

The film's title was earlier with Ashtavinayak Films but they agreed to lend it to Disney-UTV after director Rohit Shetty's request.

Shetty had earlier worked with Ashtavinayak for his 'Golmaal' series while his upcoming Shah Rukh Khan starrer 'Chennai Express' is being produced by Disney-UTV.

"For the Kunal Deshmukh film starring Emraan Hashmi, UTV wanted the title 'Shaatir'. But the same title was registered by Ashtavinayak. We mentioned it to Rohit Shetty. Rohit was extremely helpful, he immediately spoke to Ashtavinayak and helped us get the title from them," Hariprasad added.

Farhan loses his cool: Snaps when asked about this liplock!

Farhan loses his cool: Snaps when asked about this liplock

Instead he chose to lose his cool on this one. And it was all about a lip-lock that he shared with his co-star Rebecca Beeds in his latest release.

It was at an event on Saturday when a media person asked the director-turned-actor if his recent on screen kiss had placed him in the leagues of Emraan Hashmi, tagged as Bollywood's serial kisser. An onlooker says, `Farhan was visibly miffed and snapped at the media person for asking about the kiss instead of how hard he had worked on his body to prep for the role.`

Ever since the makers started promoting the film, Farhan's 'two-year-long intense preparation' has managed to grab most of the headlines. His eight-pack abs has been almost in your face but looks like for Farhan, the adulation has not been enough.

Apparently, a disgruntled Farhan shot back, `I have worked so hard to get the right body and prepare for the role, then why fuss over a simple kiss?`

In a bid to comfort an annoyed Farhan, his co-star Sonam Kapoor and director Rakeysh Omoprakash Mehra had to jump to his defence and pacify him.

We don't deny Farhan must have pumped iron for his role, but then mastering the perfect kiss on screen also takes effort, no? So why be a prude?

Paresh Rawal to star in a new film with Emraan Hashmi!!

Written By Unknown on Wednesday, 10 July 2013 | 05:49

Paresh RawalA birdie chirps that the makers were keen to rope in a big star who decided to opt out. Rawal was then cast instead. Apparently the script was written with the said actor in mind. Considering Rawal’s acting chops, we would say all’s well that ends well.

Emraan to step in Aamir's shoes for 'Dil Hai Ki...' remake!

Written By Unknown on Wednesday, 3 July 2013 | 04:57

Bollywood actor Emraan Hashmi will be stepping into the shoes of superstar Aamir Khan for the remake of 90s hit film 'Dil Hai Ki Maanta Nahi'.
Mahesh Bhatt is remaking 'Dil Hai Ki Maanta Nahi', with Hashmi reprising Aamir's character.
The original film, released in 1991, was directed by Bhatt and had his daughter Pooja Bhatt and Aamir in the lead.
While the director has not been finalised yet, it is learnt that the basic storyline will be same as the original.
"The film I directed was modelled on 'It Happened One Night' by Frank Capra, but didn't do justice to the hero's character. With this remake, we seek to do justice to the character played originally by Clark Gable, that of an unapologetic rake," Bhatt said in a statement here.
"Emraan fits this character like a glove. With this film, women will now fall in love with him," he said.
In 'Dil Hai Ke Maanta Nahi', Pooja played the role of a daughter of a rich shipping tycoon Anupam Kher, while Aamir played a reporter.
Last year, Pooja had expressed her desire to remake 'Dil Hai Ke Manta Nahi' with Alia and Ranbir Kapoor in the lead.

Total: Rs 14.5 cr nett." Though, the film got a lukewarm response on its opening day but rather than any decline at the ticket window, 'Ghanchakkar' maintained its pace by earning almost the same money on the second day of its release.

Review Ghanchakkar : Are four characters too few for a two hour film?

Written By Unknown on Saturday, 29 June 2013 | 03:04

Cast: Emraan Hashmi, Vidya Balan, Rajesh Sharma, Namit Das
Director: Raj Kumar Gupta

The Indian Express ratings: **

Horny woman who doesn't bother hiding it plus dour man with a secret, has the potential to be a humdinger. Ghanchakkar sets up trying-to-go-straight safe-breaker Sanju, and his blowsy trying-to-be fashion-forward wife Neetu, and a couple of rogues, around a bank heist, and lets them loose. This could have been a hoot, but the execution lets down the premise, and the film remains one of those that could have been edgier and funnier.

It isn't that Emraan and Vidya, playing the married couple squabbling over minor things, are not given a few laugh-out-loud situations. Raj Kumar Gupta, who's done Aamir and No One Killed Jessica before this, gives Sanjay and Neetu a cracking opening, involving bad cooking, resigned eating, and spousal sulks. Post the dining, there is the bedding. And here, where very few Bollywood movies venture with any imagination, the director gifts us an occasional smile. Balan wears wicked red horns and fishtail tights with flourish: she's all bondage hot-and-ready, and Hashmi who usually gets to kiss and leave his lovelies, lets her make the first move.
Two shady fellows, Pandit (Sharma) and Idris (Das), enter their placid lives, enticing Sanju to get back to his tools and a bank vault stuffed with a great deal of cash. The booty, stashed in a suitcase, disappears.

The rest of the film has these four characters searching for it, shooting suspicious glances at each other, being stymied by dead ends.

This is where the film could have quickened, but it slackens instead, leaving Balan to provide a chuckle or two in her hatti katti Punjaban avatar, her accent slipping more than her deeply cut negligees. But the film doesn't make of its characters' quirks as much as it could have.
The Sharma-Das duo has some moments, but is essentially flat. Pretty much like a running gag that starts out funny and ends up as an eye-glaze. And that leads me to a question: are four characters too few (there are a couple of others who show up for a scene or two, but it is with the foursome that all the action rests) for a two hour film? Like some spouses who need additional spice to keep interest from flagging, the unexpected appearance of an extra character perks up the film, and gives us a near-rousing end. Nice wrap, making you wish the rest of the film was as sharp.

Ghanchakkar' earns Rs 7.2 crore on the opening day

New Delhi
: Vidya Balan and Emraan Hashmi's last film 'The Dirty Picture' had set the cash registers ringing with their power-packed performances and some crackling chemistry. But their latest 'Ghanchakkar' seems to have got just an average response at the box office on the opening day. The film is able to collect Rs 7.2 crore in India on Friday.

Trade Analyst Taran Adarsh tweeted, "INDIA: #Ghanchakkar Fri Rs 7.2 cr."

Directed by Rajkumar Gupta of 'No One Killed Jessica' fame, 'Ghanchakkar' has not been able to draw audiences to the theatre.

It is for the first time that Vidya Balan has tried her hands at comedy and the actress plays a boisterous Punjabi housewife in 'Ghanchakkar'.

The comedy thriller also stars Rajesh Sharma and Namit Das.
